Go with plan B. You don't want the patch job as your daily tire. It should make a fine spare. Unless you were driving on it too long flat, in which case it's ruined. Ask whoever does the work for you to check the condition of the inside of the tire when he checks to see if he can patch it. Also, take a good, long, critical look at your wheel/rim to check for any warping or dents. Personally, I don't think the 5200 miles worth of treadwear will make much difference. BTW - I've got the "mini-spare"
