Can I purchase a vehicle from a dealership with 2 credit cards?

I make plenty of money to buy a $7,000 car, but I can't get an auto loan. I have a $2000 card and a $4000 card...can I use both and put down $1000 cash to pay for the car?

They will generally want you to either pay the fee they pay the credit card company, or ask you to get a cash advance from a bank machine. I bought my 300M with a credit card and the salesman told me there would be an additional 4% for cc fees.

Come to think of it, that's what happened to me too. I wanted to use my 1% perk card to buy my Trep, and he said I would need to pay a 4% fee. Not worth it. The question I'm not sure about is whether they would let you use more than one card for the single purchase.

Visa Platinums lol.I think it's crazy how I can't get an auto loan for $5,000 but I can have over $7,000 in credit cards and a 735 FICO. I just have never had an auto loan so they won't take me without a cosigner.

Loans are tight right now. Takes a better credit score than it used to. I'm just not sure they can ring a sale on two different cards unless they write it as two separate charges.

Good luck!

Primtime - So glad to hear that!

Blue - Yes, I am paying a little under 20%...but I have a new job making very good money, and my cars head gasket blew so I need a car this weekend. The Intrepid (If he still has it) will be payed off in less than a years time. I just don't have it right now because I just started this job about a month ago.

It's 5am...I can't sleep, I'm stoked about getting another Intrepid!

Thanks everyone for the input.

If you use your American Express card will you get double warrenty?

Don't forget the air miles!

I once picked up a repaired truck for a friend ,signed for $22,000 on the card!

Same card bought 2 Benz at a drug seizied auction in Florida in 89!

The "can" do it, just charge your 1st card as a deposit, your cash as an additional deposit and the final on your 2nd card

The question like it has already been asked is will they without any additional charges to you

If they are hurting like most dealers now the F&I guy (assuming the dealership is large enough to have one) will be more then willing to do it for the sale

Worse case, can't you get a cash advance on the cards? If he wants to charge you the service fee, go up to any bank and they should run them through for you.
