I'm in the process of getting a driver-side lamp so I can get a full set on the car.

Not sure when I'll accomplish that, but for anyone that wants their tails done w/o doing it themselves can either PM me or email me and we can work out the details.

I think I may patent the idea just in case some other mfg company sees them and wants to seriously over-charge people for them.

Don't be fooled by cheap immitations.
This is the real deal.

As for 2G Intrepids, while you have a serious difference in design of your tail lights, if I can get a hold of one I may look into a little R&D and see what happens. They will require a considerable more amount of time, though.

Not quite sure yet. I think for now I will keep the reflector in there, as the center piece costs a little more to replace. The same construction principles apply to it as for the side lamps, but it costs a little more on my part.

Definitely patent them dude! It doesn't cost much, and it would stop some stupid company from stealing your idea. PLUS, if a company wanted to make them, they would have to license it (or purchase the patent) from you..........shhh........listen....what's that I hear??? oh yeah, it's CHA CHING!!!

haha.....

but seriously, I have looked into patents for a few things I have dreamed up, and it is worth it..

Yes, but what do you use for a backup light then? Or did you paint around the clear "Intrepid" area of the center piece?

I can replicate the center section to look like the Alteeza's, however, it wouldn't be lighted at night anyway, you just see it in the day. Not a bad idea, but one worth considering.

As for an update on the Alteeza's themselves, as winter is approaching I won't have them on my car yet. I should have gotten the driver side bezel made at the same time, but I didn't have enough money to do it. So look for the complete set to be available sometime towards Xmas. (what a cool gift idea, huh?) :)

I'm also working on the details for my business with them so I can get a subsidiary page launched off my website, and here, so you all have details on how you can get a pair of these. And I'm in the process of getting them patented.

Please be patient, though, as it's a slow process :(. But once it's all setup, us 1G's (and hopefully 2G's) will have some sweet tail lights.

For the center section. It seems like you could run some wire from the third brake light to it and install 3-5 lights across there. Just an idea. I think it would look kind of cool all lit up across there.

Another thought is once I have this in motion a little more I could offer optional neon-wires in that center section for people who may want that.

Of course there's more Research and Development there that I need to look into, but that could be done on a per-customer-basis for different colors.

How much does it cost to do a patent? I was talking to one of my uncles over Thanksgiving and he said patents cost something like $8000! Oh, my uncle has some ideas he was looking at (not car related). But, my uncle has been know to be a little weird. :)

I do find it hard to believe that a patent would cost $8000.
