Group,

As some of you know, the quality of the hotel we've been staying in the past several years for Carlisle has gone downhill a bit.

The other clubs are considering making a change in hotels. Here is the new hotel we are considering for future Carlisles. Please let me know your thoughts on this. Personally I would welcome the change, and it would be nice to stay with the other LH cars so we can continue our normal partying after the show.

Here’s what I’ve found as the best option so far: The Country Inn & Suites – Harrisburg West: http://www.countryinns.com/mechanics...17055/paharwes
4943 Gettysburg Road, Mechanicsburg PA 17055

It’s 15 miles (~22 minutes) from the fair grounds according to Google maps. Where the old hotel is 22.5 miles and 30 minutes.

On their website, a standard room with an advance purchase is currently $134.15 with an online booking. Other hotels I’ve contacted (about 25 of them) have ranged between $119 - $179 a night. I have spoken to a woman in the sales department and she’s been wonderful! She can offer us $90 a night with no minimum booking, breakfast is included and they’re willing to start extra early just for our ‘0 Dark Hundred’ guys. (we will of course still do breakfast at the show field but it would allow you all some fuel for that early hour scrubbing session!) She can set the club up its own registration website to make making your reservations easy. She’s taken a lot of time to ask about the group and try to make our stay personalized and enjoyable (and affordable!!! Her original offer was $119 and I’ve talked her down to $90). There will be goodie bags for all club rooms (I know, this is the most exciting point for you guys!!) with coupons to a local restaurant (maybe we could use these Friday night). She has shared with me that there is another car club staying there as well.

They have also offered us industrial refrigerator space for the weekend so we can continue the tradition of feeding the group. This is a huge bonus for us!

I have another email out to her specifically about the evening activities. In looking at the location of the hotel, it too backs up to the high way (much like the old location) and there’s a side lot that would be perfect for us to gather. I will share her response as soon as I see it.

She has told us that we will have our own corner and have a place to hang out. We have no guarantees that the new owner of our old hotel is going to let us have free reign like years past. The price is only $10 more a night and I can reserve more rooms if we need them. We would like to move everyone and hopefully your group wants to come with us. It would be great to have everyone together to hang out.

Link no worky but use given address on that link and it will get you there. Pool is indoor and looks like some extra tolls/backroads?? to and from fairgrounds. Hotel pictures look nice, is there Arby's/Subway/Quiznos/Wendy's/pizza/chinese/beer and licquor nearby?? Besides sit down restaurants??

Hoping one more roundup with Mnitetrain!!

Fixed the link.

A quick look at google maps shows a close by Wendys, Sheetz, and McD's. This hotel looks to be alittle bit more on the outskirts of town than the previous one.

I am not familiar with the area. I will get with those that are and see what else is around there. Would be good to find a car wash close by as well.

Hey Guys,

I have met some of you in the past and wanted to formally introduce myself to everyone else. My name is Keith Jarvis, I was recently elected President of the 300M Club and I will be handling a large chunk of the Carlisle planning for 2012 show. Tim has decided to step away from the club and we are looking to make sure large improvements to the upcoming show.

The need for a new hotel has gotten greater over the past few years as many of you already know. I wanted to find a spot for all of the clubs that offered us some of the freedoms we had in the past and a place that was a lot cleaner and closer to the show field. The old hotel was bought by Econolodge and we have no guarantees that it will be clean or if they will let us party in the parking lot at night. They could be trying to clean it up and all the managers are new. The new place is willing to let us hang out in the lot.

I think we found our place, take a look at the link. The hotel is closer to the show field (it does require a different route), the hotel has great reviews, the person in charge knows we want to come and they really want us there. They are giving us an entire corner of the parking lot to hang out in and are really taking care of us on the price. The pool is indoors but it is open all night.

I am pulling some stuff into this thread from our own thread on the 300m board.

Here are some local places that are close-
Car Wash: 1.5 Miles
Walmart: 4.3 Miles
Target: 3.9 Miles
Beer: 1.8 Miles
Liquor: 1.7 Miles
Texas Roadhouse: 2.0 Miles

All the important stuff seems to be under two miles, including a car wash. Most places are very close in distance compared to our last hotel.

We would really like to move as a group, I feel it is important for the clubs to stay in the same place.

Hopefully you guys want to make the change. Our club put up a vote on it and there was a lot of support. We are leaning towards leaving at this point, we have 25 rooms reserved at the new place and I can get more if needed.

Feel free to ask me any questions or send them to Dan. I will be communicating with him about our plans.

I think this is an excellent idea. We are being accommodated up front by this "new" hotel for the whole lot of us (multiple clubs together) without us ever having been there. It seems worth it to give them a try.
The amenities are only a few minutes drive away and although the pool is indoor, if it is open all night as opposed to the old location which wanted to close off the entire seating/deck section with the pool at 10:00pm, it would be nice (their website says it closes at 11:00pm)

If the clubs agree to make this move and after trying it out, we can then decide if we should continue with this location or not.

As i understand it, the party in the parking lot will continue here? My concern is smoking and liquid refreshments. I like to partake in a smokey treat while enjoying my beverage of choice. Assuming pa. Is the same as Ohio, no smoking is allowed inside. And stepping outside constantly, is a problem for me,
I will not speak for the costs since that is not really is an issue for me. Let others determin that. The location looks good as well and getting several sites back together has always been my goal.

But of course the outdoor liquid refreshments is a must or it's a bust!

The new place looks nice. Pool open all night is a plus. I should be there this year, even if its in the Jeep instead of the trep. I wonder what other club is at this hotel..

Definitely agree, but... am wondering if that offer was exclusively for us (multiple clubs as one group) during our stay? because their website says the pool is open until 11 pm.

I just looked through email conversations that I had with the manager of the property.
Here is what she said about the pool.

The pool is open from 6AM to 11PM. After 11PM is adult swim only.

We should be all set.
