Hi all!
I just drove home my 99 Intrepid today.. It is Gold with the 2.7. It was a fleet purchase so there is no badges for an ES option but according to the dealer that ran the VIN for me it has all the same equipment as the ES model..
My question is this..
The friend I bought it from said that it has the remote lock option but he never had a remote for it.. I bought a remote off Ebay and am wondering how to get it programmed??

Any help would be appreciated..

.Russ if it was an ES it would have the ES stickers on it ,fleet order or no fleet orders.Sounds like you have an SE. If your car does have the keyless entry option you will have to see if the signal receiver module is plugged into the side of the body controller. This is were the signal from your key ring fob is picked up.If not you will have to get this part for it to work. Then you have to program two key ring fobs for it to work.

Also, if I'm not mistaken, for the 98 and 99 model years the ES was only available with the 3.2L engine.

If you have the 2.7L, you have an Intrepid SE (even though they didn't put the "SE" badges on until the 2001 model year).

If any of my statements are incorrect, please let me know, ottowrkr or anyone else who knows for sure. :)

You could get a 2.7 in an ES. They weren't very common, though....

Yeah, Warlord, that's an easy way to see if it's an ES or not. ;)

I knew that the 2000 and newer Intrepids could be an ES and have the 2.7L. I just thought that the 98's and 99's were strictly 2.7L for the base model and 3.2L for the ES. But as Intrepid99 pointed out, he's seen some 98 and 99 ES's with the 2.7L (though they were very rare). Guess I was wrong. :)
