Just orderd a new head unit. Got an exellent deal on it. What do you all think?

my friend has a JVC, it's kind of a piece but it's like the bottom-of-the-barrel stereo. as with almost everything else, the more you pay the better it will be. hope it's a good stereo for you.

If I got a MP3 capable unit, I could carry a lot more music per CD, correct?

yeah, a hell of a lot more. Your average MP3 is about 5MB. A standard cd-r holds 650MB..so 650/5=130 tracks!!! Not bad at all

bottom-of-the-barrel, huh? well, If I don't like it I suppose I can always find someone else to buy it off me lots of people in a college town that are willing to pay alot for a little.

I currently have A JVC from... jeeze, 5 years ago. it is the clearest sounding head unit I have ever heard. (aside from the $1000 competition units) Who knows.

what i meant is that this particular stereo installed in my buddy's oldsmobile is JVC's el cheapo unit. i don't know anything about yours, i would assume, though that with the money you paid it will be a better stereo than a lot of what's currently on the market.

(True, JVC does make some real POS units in the 'under $200 range'. They operate like crap and don't sound much better.)

That deck is really nice Lafrad, Specially like the 24-bit Digital Analog Converter. High quality stuff! Also. the fact that it has an Advanced Digital Servo which allows you to play RW disks! Thats like having cassettes times 10!! Because you don't have to burn up a bunch of disks to store in the car. well only like ten would be fine with mp3s but still .. you could just make the disk of the day while your eating breakfast everymorning with the same disk!! Sweet! Say about how much do that weigh? No j/k what's it cost? out the door?

e-bay has them going for around $280 right now. I got mine for $50 less. (more or less a favor someone owe'd me)

I'll let you know how it turns out, I should have it late this week or early next week
