Brother and sister in law gave me their 99 2.7 Intrepid, to try and save it. It was on its way to the junk yard before I said I'd take it and look at it.

144+ thousand miles on the odometer, but it's had a new engine put in 30 thousand ago.

Having a hard time getting it to start. The cam and crank sensor were replaced because it threw the P0340 code, and the code for the TPS, so that was replaced as well. New plugs also put in. Coil packs are all good. Getting spark from them, and no damage. Battery is ok, and terminals are cleaned up .

It just turns and turns, and almost fires up.

The cam and crank sensors are not MOPAR OEM,but rather Autzones Duralast junk. I thought I'd save some money, but now after reading all the posts about the oem parts working after pulling hair out with the AEM junk, I'll know now that today's cars are real critically finicky about sub par parts.

Beautiful car, made crappy by Chrysler.

So glad I found this site dedicated to this beast.

Read your other post, too.

Words of CAUTION:
Words like "Money Pit" and "Black Hole" come to mind!

Are you sure you want to start throwing money at this?
The OEM parts are going to cost more than $120.

How much do you really know about the engine that is in it.
Who put it in? Where did it come from? How much care or abuse did it suffer?

It could be full of sludge.
It could have a water pump leaking coolant into the oil.
The timing chain may have already jumped several teeth.

Personally, I would scrap it. I just don't think it's worth
time and effort.

Whatever you decide to do, I wish you the best of luck!
