Well, I just dropped off my Intrepid at the dealer to get a few things fixed, and I already miss it ;)

They gave me a brand new Mitsubishi Galant with like 1400 miles on it (it's a demo). Anyways, it is fully loaded (except leather).

I definately would not trade it in for my trep for anything. There is no room for a tall guy like me :)

The sticker on the window says it's $25k. Damn, that's a lot for this POS ;)

LOL

I went to nissan and test drove that new altima, All i have to say is OMG. This thing is fast fast faster than the RT. And is built awsome i would advice anyone to go and look at this car

One thing about the Altima that turns me off bigtime are those ugly looking taillights. The ass on that car is just too big, reminds me of the Monte Carlos.

i maintain chrysler is ignorant for not even offering a 5 speed to go with the h/o 3.5. with a 5 speed an R/T would be able to dust a SHO or POSSIBLY even a GTP. having an auto in there is BS for a supposed high performance car. granted, the altima is way smaller and lighter than an intrepid but it wouldn't be that much of an ass-whoopin if the r/t at least had a 5 speed. plus at that point you could trick it out for more torque and hp because you wouldn't have the lingering weak tranny to worry about.

www.allpar.com was saying their putting a 5 speed automatic in the Durango's. The next gen Intrepids are probably still only going to have a 4 speed. The multispeed (2 second gear ratios) would give the trep some NICE 0-60 times. Why leave the "flagship" out in the cold. Sad thing is if a supercharger or turbo charger could be fitted to the Trep i'd probably blow up the tranny.

But WHERE is the manual for the treps? Autostick, hell it's only good for slowing down without hitting the brakes & going up in the mountains.

I know those Altima are quick, 240HP, 5 speed auto or 6 speed manual, 3200lbs, yeah their gonna move ya.

Personally, I don't care how powerful it is; if it's ugly, I don't wanna drive it. The new Maxima and Altima are both ugly, in my opinion, but then again, very rare is a Japanese car who's styling I liked or didn't yawn at. :)

I think the new Altima is gorgeous. Funny thing, when I went to the NY Auto show, I was taking pictures of all the exotics (Viper, Ford '49 Concept, Linclon Mark IX concept) When I saw the Altima, I even took a couple pictures of it, it is such an improvement over the old car! The interior is pretty slick too.

i don't care if it can run a 13 second 1/4 (exaggerating a little), it is ugly and small. the maxima is ugly and big. both can outrun me any day. so what? i have a better car.

Actually the Maxima and the Altima are very close in size now. They are moving the Maxima "upmarket" so the two cars don't clash. Though Nissan fully expects the Maxima sales to fall by up to 50% with the introduction of the new Altima. Rumor has it the Maxima is going to be a sports car in it's next generation.

The roofline on the Altima kinda reminds me of the current crop of VW's and Audi's the more I look at it. Hmmmm...

I agree on the taillights though. I HATE those clear taillights they are putting on alot of cars now. That is my one gripe with the Lexus IS300 also. Definitely factory rice! ;)

Yes, they aren't the fastest thing on 4 wheels but they are small and have an inline 6 with 215 horsies. I don't think 15.3 sec in the 1/4 mile would be considered "no balls" (though not blazingly quick also), then again neither is a top speed drag limited 144 mph considered ball-less either. (and that's on the automatic!)

The thing I most like about them is the fact you can get a manual and they are rear wheel drive.

Don't matter anyway, I ain't getting one...I just think they are good cars.

I'm waiting until my 2004 Intrepid R/T gets built. I crave my rear wheel drive.
