ok, so, my parents blew the 2.7 in there intrepid last november. they gave the car to me with the "you fix it, you can have it" mentality. So, i tore apart the 2.7 its still under the hood, but the heads are off. blaw blaw, im almost ready to give up completly. when i was cruising last week, i suddenly found a 3.5 liter motor for sale for $300. i was like, "can this be"? so i called the guy, and, sure enough. i went out, and, it was completely dissambled, but, was freshly cleaned and, absolutely immaculate. beatiful. amazing compression. the block was *like new* the heads need some cleaning. but, beside that, its great. i walked away with the complete block, heads, intake/plenum thing. throttlebody, wireing harness. and, yea. basically a complete motor. for a grand total of $250:smilie_sc, and a few gallons of gas to get there and back. now, i have it all layed out on my garage floor. amazed at the beauty of it. especially the little "3.5 liter high output" plaque. now, my question is, not that i have the block and the harness. what can i reuse form the 2.7 setup, and, what do i need to get.
major points being.
can i use the alternator form the 2.7?
can i use the fuel pump and ac compressor?
can i use the power steering pump?
window washer fluid pump?
and, most of all, do i need a new computer/brian, setup for the 3.5, or, will the 2.7's do?

pls, any expertise would be appreciated, im going through my motor manual, but, you guys have the experience to back up facts. thank you for your time.

Since it was disassembled, you would know it had "amazing compression" (what ever that means) by how??????????????????????

Purchase Dan's book, it has everything you'd need to know..................

It almost sounds like you might be looking at a 1gen 3.5 for that price. If so you cant use it so I would look into that as well.

oh no man, its right out of a 99 intrepid, and, trust me, the intake is unmistakable, plus, its an aluminum block, not iron. i bought it form this really cool old guy, who used to work for penske's racing team. he had the engine pulled, and, taken down to their shop for a complete decarboning of the block, and to put new, high performance rings on. then, decided to trade up for a different engine, he said he gave the car to his son, and, put a brand new motor in it just to make sure nothing went wrong for a long long time. and i dont know whether to believe everythign he said, cause, he claimed with a few unspecified aftermarket parts, he had it dyno out at 313hp. but, yea, thats the story behind it.

If its a 3.5HO it couldnt have came out of a 99 Intrepid, it would have had to be an LHS or 300M, unless it was swapped it in to the Intrepid in place of a 2.7 or 3.2.

313 HP is pretty steep off of the stock 252HP, would like to know what he did to it to get that much.

It must be those "high performance rings"..............but then, he traded "up" for a different engine - I'm guessing a Hemi :)biggrin:).........................

im assuming it was swapped in, he had a torn up lhs in the back, might have pulled it out of it, but, didnt ask.
