A friend of mine recently bought a fully loaded 2.7 99 Concord. Shortly after buying it whilst driving up a hill it began to gradually slow down and eventually (at the top of the hill) the engine was rattling away a bit like a diesel! They paid 2k for it and it has just over a hundred thousand on the clock. A new engine has been found a 3.5ltr for $1300 but it will cost another $1400 to have it fitted. Does this sound like a reasonable deal? Are there any major differences between a 2.7 and a 3.5? Is there anything else that will need to be changed to fit the 3.5 in ok? The engine is nice and clean but a lot of sand has been found in the engine bay. Virtually nothing is known about its history and I have suggested running the vin.
Any ideas opinions or advice guys, Thanks Max
