I'm thinking of picking up a 2002 Chevy Tahoe Z71 as either a weekend/vacation vehicle or as a replacement for my every day driver - 2000 Intrepid ES 3.2L.

I rented one over the weekend on a trip down the coast as I've had my eye on them for some time. My intention was to find flaws with the vehicle over the course of the weekend (800 miles round trip on interstates, BFE town streets, dirt roads, etc.) but I found nothing wrong with it other than the way my left foot rests under the e-brake. But that's easy enough to get around.

I've been quite happy with the Trep, but it's getting on in miles (33,000) and if I am to get rid of it before my loan has is up now would be the time as it still has a couple of thousand miles left on the warranty for the new owner to run it through the paces.

Anyhow, does anyone have any real-world experience with newer Tahoes and/or Yukons (same vehicle with different badging & asthetics)?

I have heard they are the best truck on the market. I like they way they look more then the Expeditions (the Chevy's look more like "TRUCKS") and they are supposedly bulletproof.

Good Luck with whatever you decide.

I myself have been looking at them too, but what I really, really , really want is a Denali. But I have not heard anything bad about them, a buddy of mine has a 95 Tahoe raised up on some big ass tires and we go four bying in glamous all the time

I thought about the Denali too, but for an extra $10K it doesn't do much more than provide extra "doodads". Don't get me wrong, I like/love doodads, but I wasn't able to justify $10K for them.
