I have searched and read about a billion threads and nothing tells me what I need to know. I am in the process of installing an OTIS into my 97 sport. I have the ambient temp sensor, the premium BCM, and the OTIS. What else do I need to complete the install to make everything work. Do I need full wiring harnesses or what. I'm lost. Thanks for help in advanced.

Here’s what I think you need, and most of it is in the how to.
The temp sensor from behind the bumper on the left side of the donor car. (Your 97 will have the plug somewhere between the battery, the radiator, and the place where the temp sensor mounts, so you don’t need to wire that separately)

EDIT: You don't need the sun sensor unless you're doing the ATC or automatic headlights, I was getting carried away with the parts you need.

The OTIS it’s self, and to make life easier the set of wires that go from it, down the left A-Pillar and over to the plug under the matte black cover on the top of the dash.

The Premium BCM with the black plug, because you’re Base BCM only has a white and tan/grey plug in it with some extra wire for splicing.

Other then that the how to gives you a step by step as to how to wire it in. one thing that wasn’t mentioned much was that since the premium BCM probably has an alarm active on it, if ground the alarm disarm wire it will be disabled completely. I found that after grounding it, it didn’t interfere at all with my aftermarket one, however when I just had a button to disarm it manually, it was tripping my aftermarket one all the time.

If you have any questions let me know because I did just do this myself, so it’s all fresh in my memory.

When I did mine I did use the wiring harness out of the donor car because there are the two CCD bus wires that are twisted together a number of times per foot. I did have to rearange some of wires on the plug going from the harness match to the ones on the plug under the IP cover. Now, I don't know if your wires will match up to the existing plug or not, my car is a Canadain model so my wiring may have been different then a US models. The courtesy lights in the back were the only ones I had to solder the wires to reconnect them. If you have any more questions about doing the install I may be able to help you as I just finished mine about 3 weeks ago.

well i have never looked at my bcm but i dont think i have the third wiring harness. so doi need to get that whole harness from the doner car? i know i have to get the otis harness. so does that lead to the whole hsarness for the 3rd clip?

You don't need the third plug unless your going to use the factory alarm some time in the future. Just remember to diable the alarm in the new BCM before you in stall it or you'll have more problems than you can deal with.

You don’t need to rip out the wires all the way to the OTIS, just get the black plug and a couple inches of the wires. What I did when I did my OTIS and ATC install was cut the wires about 4 inches from the plugs where they go into the BCM and then I spliced wires to span the distances from the BCM to all the various connections for my ATC. You only have to wire the CCD bus from the OTIS it’s self to the plug on the dash because from there to the BCM is already wired for the OTIS even with the base BCM. It will be much easier however to have the black connector so you will have the green and orange wire to ground (to disable the factory alarm), rather then having to solder a wire to one of the pins in the BCM.
All in all despite how complicated it might seem, it really isn’t that hard to install, and the system is pretty forgiving.

well i dont have a factory alarm. jsut keyless entry. do i still have to diaable it? seth im jsut doing the otis

I’m not sure if the donor car didn’t have the factory alarm if it can somehow be activated, but from what they said in the post skyhawk linked it sounds like it can be. All I know is that the BCM from the Vision I pillaged was arming it’s alarm every time the doors were “power locked”, and when I unlocked it and opened a door the headlights started flashing and it would turn it’s self off about half a second after I started it, until I grounded the green and orange wire from the black plug. So even if all you want to do is install the OTIS and not the ATC or Auto dimming lights, or the full factory alarm, I’d still suggest getting the third plug (the black one) even if all you are using it for is to ground one wire.

BTW, when you say you only had keyless entry, not the alarm do you mean your car with the BCM that it originally had, or do you mean the donor car didn’t have an alarm. The reason I as is of course because the alarm is part of the BCM, so if you swap that, you’re going to have the alarm/keyless entry from the donor car, not what you had before.

If you have the gauge cluster that has the autostick lights on it, and it correctly shows what gear you’re in when you’re in autostick mode, you must have the premium BCM and I would think all you would need to do is wire in the OTIS from the plug under the matte black dash piece to the OTIS it’s self. (The worst that could happen if you try that before taking a look at the BCM is that it won’t work)

Yeah my autostick works. So I don't need a different BCM? I can jsut splice the OTIS wires into the CCD bus?

I haven't changed BCM's ever. So I still have keyless entry. Idk if the donar car had an alarm or not. So then I wouldn't have keyless entry anymore if I switch BCM's?

I’m sure you could make it work, but as far as I know the keyless entry as well as the alarm are part of the BCM, so I don’t think the keyless entry would work if you swapped the BCM’s, before maybe the remote was programmed to work with it? I’m not really sure, some of the other guys are better with that stuff.
But now that I read the very obvious thing you wrote in your first post, which is that you have an intrepid sport with autostick, I’m pretty sure you must have a premium BCM. Like I said, it’s not going to harm anything if you hook up the OTIS and you have a base BCM, it just won’t have any data coming to it. So were I you, before taking apart the whole lower dash, just install the OTIS it’s self and wire it into the plug under the matte black dash piece and see if it works. It will save you probably thirty minutes to an hour of trouble if it just works.

so just splice it in to see if it work or not before going into this all. well i mean how to i test to see if every action the otis performs works?

“ Run the OTIS diagnostics by pressing and holding in the "STEP" and "C/T" buttons simultaneously while inserting the key into the ignition and turning it to the ON/RUN (not START) position. Continue holding down the 2 buttons for at least 3 seconds after you turn the key to the ON/RUN position. The OTIS will display "PASS" in its readout if the OTIS wiring is connected correctly. The "PASS" rating does not necessarily mean the BCM is performing functions correctly, or that the temp sensor is hooked up correctly either. It just means you have the power and CCD bus lines connected to the OTIS console properly. “

So if you do this test and is says pass then it’s hooked up right and you have the right BCM. Also check and make sure as you drive it as you scroll through the different options by pressing “Step” it shows your MPG decrease as you accelerate, the DTE (distance to empty) decreasing as you drive, the trip odometer increases as you drive, and that the temperature and direction seems right when you press the CT button.

ok, one more question, where do i conect the ats up to to get it to work right, and where is the compass coming from

The compass just worked when I had everything hooked up. I don’t really know where the sensor is, or if it’s part of the temp sensor. Now I know it seems weird where the instructions tell you to plug in the temp sensor, but the place it was on my donor car (which was a LHS not the Vision) was…if you look straight down just to the right of your left headlight housing you’ll see a metal support for the bumper that is about two inches from the radiator (which is of course the AC condenser I think). You’ll see on the side of that support that faces the radiator a small hole for a sheet metal type screw and that is where you mount it, with the pointy end pointing towards the right of the car. Now on mine at least there was a plug that looked like it could go into the temp sensor right by the headlight, that had a wire that was too short to reach the mounting location and that isn’t right (maybe it’s the daytime running light connector, I’m not really sure) but there was another that was wedged further down that will reach that is the right one. The rubber plug seal was swollen and dried up on mine so I just tore it off and used electrical tape to seal it since the plug wouldn’t go together with the old seal on it.

Yep, it’s pretty easy, once you get the guts to cut into your headliner, lol. I’m glad I could give you some pointers, and if you need some shots of anything that doesn’t require me to take anything too big apart I can do that too. (Good ol camera phone that I can hook right up to the PC).

Oh, one other thing. If the compass doesn’t seem quite right initially, you can go to C/T and while it’s displaying the direction and temperature press and hold the reset button for about 10 seconds until the “CAL” symbol comes on, and then drive in three complete circles at about 5 mph at which point the “CAL” symbol will disappear and the compass will be reset.

I might be too late but I know of a good way to check if you have premium BCM without taking the whole dash apart. Take off the one trim piece that is on the passanger side that has "Dodge" on it. There should be a small hole nearest to the door behind that piece. Open your glove box and it should produce enough light where you can see you bcm and your harness through that little hole. Also does your car have ATC? that would also indicate a premium BCM.
