I crashed my car badly. It flipped. It's totaled. I broke a few bones in my back. Wear seatbelts please.

RIP '99 trep ES, my first car
Are you saying that you didn't have it on? If so, you are lucky that you aren't dead.....Glad to see that you are ok.

MAN DOWN...MAN DOWN!!!!

Broke a "few" bones in your back!!??

Wow, I'm sorry to hear this. So how long before you are back up and around? I'm assuming you are on bed-rest at the very least.
Lot's of goooooood pain-killers though? ;)

Oh yeah, and sorry to hear about the car too.

Sounds like a hard lesson learned if you are stressing the use of seatbelts. On the brightside...your alive. Bones can be fixed, cars can be replaced...but people cannot.

**Edit** Rep for not being dead :silly:

Glad you are ok. One of the reasons I bought a trep is because of how safe they are. Otherwise I would not drive around with my 6 month old son in the back seat. We have a couple of members here who can tell you first hand how that car saved their lives. Sounds like we can add you to that list. Get well and enjoy the percocets!!! :Eyecrazy:

It feels wrong to me to drive without a seatbelt. Not only do I wear seatbelts even in private property, half the time I wear them when I'm just sitting in the car (waiting for someone in the store, waiting for it to warm up because it's cold and I shiver so much sometimes that it's hard to drive, etc...)

That said, glad you're OK.

First off, sounds like your OK!
Wow........when he says he broke a FEW bones in his back, that doesn't sound to me like he's "OK". Good that you didn't die! I don't get the BMW thing (too much money to burn?) You can send some to me since you obviously have extra to waste! :)

I bought my Honda Civic because FOR THE MONEY, it's the safest car out there.

Must take a SERIOUS amount of skill to flip an Intrepid, I don't think mine would ever flip no matter how much I tried.

i loved that trep and truly it saved my life, I'm not sure how i flipped it because i went unconscious when i hit the trees, then i woke hanging upside down. the BMW i'm looking at is a used 1993 with a bunch of miles so its affordable. BTW they gave me a bottle of vicadin but i have not had any.

Pics?

It's very hard for others to comprehend the damage until they've seen it.
Like :
I couldn't imagine the damage when I was told the glove box of my Intrepid was mere inches from the steering wheel until I saw it.

Glad you are ok. But you know why you survived? You didn't wear your seatbelt.

It is a FACT that more people die with their seatbelts on than off. It's much safer to keep it off.

Where are these facts? I work EMS and I have never seen that fact, seat belts help in stopping the ejection of the occupant upon impact, and it is a fact that you are more likely to survive a MVC if you are not ejected from the vehicle.

Well, people more often than not wear their belt, so the percentage of people being in an accident with one on is obviously high. There are some accidents where even a seat belt can't save you. However, I think you have more a chance with one on, than with one off.

yeah damn, glad your still here typing, i got ejected out of a 71 cutlass back in 98, it was no fun, 144 stitches in my face alone! Plastic surgery the works! wish i had a seatbelt on that day.

Oh yeah if you can turn your airbags off too, its safer without them, no seatbelt/ no airbags/ no problems! :Eyecrazy:
