Weve painted a whole interior, from light grey to black, looks amazing, but it does scratch off, we used high quality auto interior paint from ppg supplies, it was like $7 a can and it took like 6 cans to do all the interior, id get it wrapped or buy a leather one online, theres still one fs on the forums here I think even

I would have it wrapped. Painting vinyl always turns pretty shitty pretty quickly.

oh it would be easy to yourself, you can heat tac it to it with glue and use some small staples in it, the door panel ones are even easier cause it doesnt matter what the hell it looks like on the back, and its easy to get it wrapped around that part tight enough with some specialty fabric glue

just for a small thread hijack:
Where does somebody buy vinyl/leather that they could use to wrap a door panel?
i've seen the small rolls on ebay but the shipping is kind of rediculous...
i've been toying with the idea of wrapping the gross carpet on the bottom of my door panels for ages, but ive never been able to figure out where to find vinyl and im not gonna pay a shop to do it...

Dupli-Color makes a cloth/leather/vinyl paint. Works great on cloth and works well on leather. Havn't tryed it on vinyl. I would wrap it. You can find leather easyly at hobby shops and for installing it you can just do almost anything depending what the old stuff is wraped on. If it's that cheap cardboard like stuff then you can sew it on or use fabric pop rivits.

Heres a few links for painting and wraping

Some of this is for house furniture but it can work with car upholstery & interiors
