About 3 months ago I bought a Palm Tungsten T5 on eBay for a song. $45 cause the battery was dead. Unplug it and the palm would shut off. Bought a new lithium battery for $9 and all is awesome again. I then bought a bluetooth GPS receiver from Holux for $25. No issues pairing anything, even to this laptop.

I originally bought the Palm so I could by the GPS, and planned on downloading mapping software, but all I can seem to find are very pricey ones.

Is there an inexpensive or freeware map, similar to MS Streets & Trips or the like that operates on a PalmOS 5.*?

I'd also purchased the GPS receiver so if I had my laptop in the car, I could use that instead of the Palm. I have plans to make a laptop incar mount, similar to what you might see in a patrol car.

The Palm is so much more compact and I'd much rather use that instead.

Any suggestions? I have googled my ass off and keep coming up empty handed...

The T5 has an SD slot so putting the software on my SD cards isn't an issue... It's just a matter of finding a decent mapping program, preferrably supporting Canadian highways, streets, etc.

I'm almost starting to regret this Palm purchase LOL

Thanks all...

Cheap or free?

Well........................not really.

MS has pocket streets but I think that only runs on windows mobile.

There's stuff out there is you tend towards the pirate..........cough.......bay.org.......cough................stuff.

But it's gonna be stolen software. Unadvisable.

I've used it to download programs and try them and see if they are worth spending my hard earned money on them. But have always deleted them after that. I guess that's still pirated, but I pay up if I decide to keep using it. Don't want to get caught with illegal stuff in my line of work.

Here's a nice little page for some options:
