has anyone installed windows in their cases to show off your computers guts? I think this is just what my new gaming machine needs, a big ass window and a neon tube

seeing how my new rig will be running dual processors, 512ram, 5 cooling fans and rounded cables for better air flow it would be nice to show off the goods without cracking the case

I wouldn't over kill on ram. I have 512mb of PC133 memory in mine and I barely notice XP pro using over 200mb.

This is my setup:

Dual P3 733MHz Coppermines
ABIT VP6 mobo w/on board raid (that I dont use)
Hercules 3D prophet 2 (geforce 2 pro) w/64mb DDR
1 34gb UDMA 66 Maxtor HD
SB Live Value
D-Link 530tx 10/100 nic
Yamaha 8/8/24 CD-RW w 4mb cache (E-IDE)

and that be it. I'm not that impressed with dual CPU's and I notice I get about the same amount of buffer under-runs if I start to do something. :( I want to upgrade to dual P3 1GHz and max out though, but the P3 coppermines are still pretty expensive.

Ram is cheap, except when you need registered ECC PC100, then 512 is more than enough.

As for buffer underruns, I have a HP external 4x4x6 burner. The USB setup is great for moving from machine to machine and the USB setup helps prevent buffer underuns as well, as long as I use good quality media I rarely make coasters.

I am running 2 IBM IDE deskstar drives in my other machine but LOVE the SCSI drives speed and reliability in my server class machines.

Currently I have 3 PC's, 1 server and my laptop running at my house. My 6 yr old is running a Cel-800, 128 ram, 20GB hard drive , 17" IBM monitor and I have a Dell 266MMX, 128 ram and 15" monitor ready for my 3 yr old.

Speaking of cases, does anyone know where I can get a case with nine 5¼" bays on the front?

And it can't have a plexiglass door, either.

Once you play a driving game with force feedback you will never go back. My current gaming setup with the logitech force feedback wheel and surround sound speakers feels so damn real as you pound down the straights and drift the corners. There is one level on NFS that has a wooden pier, you should feel the wheel jumping around as you barrel across the planks at 100+MPH.
