ok, here's my daily frustration....

I use PCany version 8 on machines with operating systems ranging from win98-win2K and never have any problems (yes, I know ver 8 is not win2K compliant)

today at work I had the version 9.2 CD in hand and decided my win2K laptop needed a change, I uninstalled ver 8 and installed ver 9.2 fresh saying no to all available "extras"

Reboot prompt came up and I hit enter, reboot was running normal and then suddenly winlogin.exe errors. I tried debugging mode, nothing..tried win2000 repair from CD..nothing, the startup screen that displays "please wait..windows is starting up" now says "llllce lll ll llll" and then the winlogon.exe error

Finally, as a last resort before formatting and reinstalling I tried "safe mode" and uninstalled PCAnywhere and Symantec LiveUpdate..reboot, perfect startup

moral of this story..if it's running good don't upgrade it!!!!!

That goes the same for other updates from Norton on their other programs. I run Norton works 2002 and with the last update, it now causes an error with some redirector file. There is a fix on the site, have to remove Norton Antivirus, change some **** in the registery and then reload the software.

About to ditch Norton.

With 9.2, you have to do live update BEFORE THE REBOOT so that it can download the fix for this problem.

Get pcAnywhere 10.5, it works VERY well.

SystemWorks 2002, well first off the Redirector live update would trash antivirus, e-mail scanning would come to a halt, then a Norton Utils & a Speed disk update came out, neither of them worked either. Then they took Redirector away, freaking morons.

What do you use it for? I use to have it to manage servers but now that we are running Win 2k Server I can just use the terminal client. I like that much better than PC anywhere.
