Power steering suddenly stopped working

Hi everybody.
Last week while sharp turning left on the parking lot, power steering went off.
Fluid is OK, Belt seems fine. No check engin, or battery light. It is almost impossible to turn the steering wheel when the car is not moving. Any ideas?

As a general rule I've seen more pump failures than racks. A pump from a junkyard might be reasonably inexpensive to replace.
Thank you for quick response. As a general rule I've seen more pump failures than racks. A pump from a junkyard might be reasonably inexpensive to replace.
So you think it is Pump? Is it possible that only pulleyis broken? You mentioned racks. What about them?
Racks DO fail from time to time but, in our cars it is more likely the pump to fail before the rack does. I suggested the pump as a "Replace First" option since it is much easier and cheaper to replace than the rack. Unless you have a hydraulic pump gauge designed for power steering systems, you are pretty much stuck guessing about which one failed.

Also, since you said the belt looks OK and, I assume that means the tension is correct and it is running true, I would be against a pulley failure.
THank you, and last qustion. Could pulley become loose on the pump shaft?

Yes, it can but, I wouldn't think it would stay on the shaft very long if it did. It is a "Pressed-On" fit or, interference fit.
