The other day I took the Trep on a short 25 min. trip and it blew cold air almost the whole way up, the heat finally kicked in on the way home - I was a little worried. Just tonight I had the same problem, my wife drove home from work ( 10 minutes ) and the heat worked perfect. The car sat about 15 minutes, and I took it up the street to the grocery store. The heat was great on the way to the store, and then after sitting for about 15 minutes I AGAIN was getting cold air the whole way home. WTF? The fluid is topped, should I replace the thermostat ( 51K miles )? I remember before buying the car reading about people having problems with intermittent A/C. Any help would be great.....

I just had the same problem fixed. The temperature control system had a mind of its own. The thing would be on when all the knobs were turned off even. It was weird! Took it into the dealer had the entire temperature control replaced under warranty and its been working great ever since. Hope that helps! :)

Thanks... that's not really what I wanted to hear though. There's no other functional problems with it, so I'm not 100% sure the whole thing needs replacing. If it does though that's gonna suck - I only have a Powertrain through Chrysler - I'll have to go to the dealer and do it under their 6 month warranty. The problem is A: The dealer's "service" department is a JOKE and B: They aren't going to want to fix it 'cause they won't be reinbursed by DC. They'll give me the old "it works fine for us" "couldn't find anything wrong". On top of that I have to drive a half-hour to get there. Hopefully others have had their whole system replaced and I might be able to get Chrysler ( DC, whatever - I'm living in denial ) to pay for it at the dealer I want.

I love this car, but I'm starting to maybe wonder if I'm gonna have the same kind of problems I had with my Shadow - with all the stuff I'm reading. Well, I'm stuck with it now.

Wildcat suggested doing the vent calibration, I searched the forums and found it. I started her up this morning and after about 10 minutes - still no heat. Did the calibrations, guess what? Heat! I hope that was the only problem AND if the whole temperature controls system does flake out down the road that it's something I can pick up at a junkyard.
