The other day I got stopped in a Wal-Mart parking lot by a police officer, well he didnt stop me he kinda followed me until I parked but anyway he rolls down his window and I roll down mine he looks at me and says "those windows a little dark dont you think?" and I just say " I have a prescription officer" so he walks over checks my prescription and rates my window which comes in a 30% when the law is even with a prescription must be 35% for the fronts. But he said "well its close enough and if I dont mind than nobody else should" so he was bein cool because technically he couldve ticketed me anyway and I forgot to mention he didnt even ask for license and registration. So I pull off feelin good that I got lucky and this was about a week ago. Then yesterday Im on my way to school and I see the black and white in my rearview tailin' me around corners and he even ran a redlight to stay behind me so I knew I was going to get stopped and I was almost to school too so I was hoping I could just make it and he would go away but no he flips the lights on when I was about 15 seconds from the parking lot and so I pull over, roll my windows down, etc. He walks up and its the same guy! he looks at me and says "May I see your license?" so I pull my wallet out and as I was digging he says "The reason I pulled you over was because you have tinted front windows. Are you aware of the Iowa laws and restrictions?" and I look at him and his nametag to make sure it was the same police officer and not just someone who looked like the last guy and it was him so I say "Didnt you already speak to me at Wal-Mart last week?" and he does a double take at me and says "Well I guess I did didnt I? Im sorry about that Im just an old man" and he laughs and sends me on my way without checking my license. I was just happy he was cool because Ive been pulled over by Assholes before but this dude was definitely not an asshole and didnt make me feel nervous at all. Just thought Id share.

Why is tint medically related?
You can get a medical note from your doctor or eyedoctor if you have a medical condition in which you need to be shielded from direct sunlight. If I remember correctly, if you have a frequent passenger who has a condition like this, even if you don't, you can still get medical tint.

Haha yeah Ive always wanted to make one of the Chicago meets but the way my gravel road tears my Trep up Id be ashamed to attempt to show it off but I know I will make one those meets someday. And the Reason I have a medical excuse is I simply have very sensitive eyes when It comes to light so I talked to my eye doctor about it and Ive damn near wrecked several times on account of headlights at night so the side window tint really helps me when pulling onto highways.

Around her you can go to DMV with your doctor note and get an exempt sticker which affixes right to your windshield showing police your tint is fine
I'd imagine that it wouldn't be too, too difficult to get the tint shop (maybe even with an additional cash incentive) to bump your tint a notch up on the darkness scale, once you have that "I'm safe" decal in your hand...
