Hey everybody out there. I am planning to get my intrepid painted soon so I figured I may as well detail the car and get it totally back up to factory standards as far as the suspension is concerned. I plan on taking out the carpet and steaming it, but I want to know if anybody knows of any type of insulation I can put under the carpet that would quiet the interior of the car? If so: how much does this super material cost? Thanks 1994 3.3 'Trep w 190K and still going strong

You might want to look into getting fiberglass home insulation or egg crate type foam. If you go the insulation route, get the cheap stuff, otherwise it'll be too thick. Either way I think this would put too much "fluff" under the carpet. Try getting 1" thick egg crate foam and lining the insides of the doors. This might dampen road noise more. I have no experience with this but I've been thinking about it too. I'd avoid the dynamat sound deadening stuff, I think it mostly reduces low frequency noises which not what most road noise consists of.

It may be a little spendier but i've heard of people putting that noise reducer stuff that they use for stereo systems under the carpet and it helps a lot.

How about spraying it with that aerosol undercoating..I used it on my Tempo I used to have and it didnt smell. Also that way it isnt too thick. There are different kinds out there but the stuff I got at Wal-Mart seemed to work good. Just let it dry well before re-inserting the carpet.

the noise reducer that they use for stereos is definately the way to go, it comes in 1/4" or 1/2" rolls, and you just form it to the sheetmetal, then put the carpet over it.it is quite heavy, but I think yer 'trep can handle it

no idea how much it sells for, I just saw it and thought it was cool. ALso, if anyone from menonomee ever posts, try to notice them. We all know the town is so small that if you blink on the hiway, you will miss it, but give them some respect
