So, I was driving to school in the morning minding my own business when this guy pulls up next to me at the red light with this white integra with baby blue wheels and a big ole' fart cannon on the back. Naturally it was my first time ever having the oppurtunity to go head to head with a ricer (havent even raced one in my camaro yet) so I of course took this oppurtunity as a sign. I had just fixed my camshaft sensor the week before and it was my first chance to have a race with it running at 100%. When the light turns green I just stomp on it and the guy had floored it too and we were racing almost head to head most of the way. At about 30 mph I was starting to pull on him and he knew it because each time he would shift he would wait just a little bit longer to get as many rpms out of it as he could. About 5+ seconds later I look down and realize that I am going 70 mph in a 45 when i normally only go up to the speed limit and instantly shut it down. At the end the guys front end was at the middle of my door and once I shut it down he kept going and did a good old ricer fly by and just went on his way. Kind of got to feel bad for that guy having lost to a stock 2.7.:glum:

I've had a few good kills. I never start any of them, but I finish them. But I've had my car for 3 years , so I know what I can and cant beat, and unfortunately theres not much a 2.7 can beat. My favorite kills thus far have been another 2.7 Intrepid with big rims and tinted tails, and a 2.7 Charger made to look like an RT. I dont mess with small cars too much. Theyre too efficient and most times quicker.

I follow that rule as well but the only exceptions are ricers (MOST of the time they arent very fast) and other sports cars like Camaros and Mustangs (I have a Camaro so it's always fun to see how good the car can do against cars similar to mine).

A 2.7 can take an early 3rd Gen with a TBI 305. But once you get into the TPIs...yeah no. And the 2.8? yeah, a joke. It can also put up a fight for a 4th gen 3.4 F body. Drop a 3.5 in it and a whole new world opens up. It would then give the LB9 a run for its money, but not the L98. In your IROC, do you have the LB9 or L98?

I got the L98 TPI. It isnt very fast at the moment (need to check the EGR and work on the EST (whats EST stand for)) but once all thats fixed it should fly! For instance I tried racing my moms V6 Mustang (whopping 193 hp) and she beat me! Not by much but still, not good.

First its an automatic. GM sucked at building trannies and couldnt put inagood stick that wouldnt be shredded by the 98, so they used the 700R4. A Richmond 6 spd would wake it up. Edlebrock high flow itake runners will go a long way, a very long way. Exhaust is horrible on the 3rd gen F body, very constricitve. Many small things compoundtogether to weaken it. My dad ordered his 89 IROC with an L98 back in 88. As of now, it has 8, 049 miles. It also has Borla exhaust, Edlebrock High Flow Intake Runners, Dana 60 rear end, and oh yeah cant forget this, Paxton supercharger. Its wicked. I've driven it a few times and it scares the **** out of me. More so than my buddys EVO IX. In the last 7 years 500 miles have been put on the car.

Yeah I agree with you. Pretty much everything you listed are the subtle things I have been looking to do to my Iroc. But I also kind of want to keep it stock, for instance I might get it repainted the stock color again but this time get all the Iroc decals painted on becasue they are peeling off right now. I might just buy another 2.8 third gen and drop in a 350 and then stroke it to a 383 and then put in a vortech supercharger (becasue it is easily concealed under a stock hood) and build up the trans and rear end while keeping the body covered in bondo (my own little sleeper!).

Spencer, I would race friends as well except none of my friends will race me in either car even though they tell me they race people all the time.

Trep, That's pretty cool except I dont think I'm going to go all out on the car like you did. I am pretty much bringing it back to its former glory as sort of a present for my mom. My mom bought it brand new in 2000 and when my sister started driving it in 2009, after putting less than 1,500 miles on it, she had gotten into 3 accidents! 1. hit a dumpster in the driveway (wrinkled the heck out of the front passenger fender) 2. t-boned a durango driving to school (scrapped up the bumper and put a hole in it) 3.backed into someone in the mall parking lot (scuffed the rear bumper and of the quarter) 4. I kicked in one fender (she threw a basketball at my face). In the past month I have fixed it all but the mall scuff.
My mommy is SO proud of me! lol

I never really thought of it that way but yeah the car does have that aggressive look kind of like my Camaro does but then again not like it. It's like the "aggressive commuter".
You put on an ES bumper and Spyders, it gets a whole lot more aggressive. If you really want to have fun, Try having your mom keep up with you in the corners. Its not going to happen, lol.

She is 100% no problem in the corners in the Camaro with its low center of gravity (I once took a almost 90 degree corner at 100+mph in it. ONCE!!!). I havent tried racing her in the Intrepid but I recently tried egging her on, just to get one race in while I'm working out the kinks in the Intrepid.

The Intrepid doesnt know how big it is. The 2.7 may not be the quickest in a straight line, but throw it through some twisties and she shines. I killed my buddies 96 Mustang GT on a twisty road. after 2 miles, I didnt even see his headlights

Are you serious...THAT'S AWESOME!!! Couple of kids at my school with GT's I should challenge them to a race and then say I will make it easier on them by driving the Intrepid. Then I will mapquest the twistiest road in Omaha!

If he'd done a GSR swap, you'd have seen tail lights rather quickly. Sadly, those cost money and a ricer doesn't usually know an engine hoist from a zit on his ass.
