I'm looking to change the interior of my car. I HATE!!! carpet, a new wheel would be nice, especially one with a horn I can actually hit in a hurry (in this part of the country you need it)

Ideally I don't want to make the inside of the car any louder, I want something weather and stain resitant that looks good for the floor and something that will insulate sound at least as good as the carpet (less exhaust resonance and road noise would be better) without adding too much weight.

A custom dash would be cool but the main thing is just to change the color of all the plastic to match the new paint job I want to get done. Currently the car is dark green and the interior is the same but a green inetior never did get me that excited and now its really gonna look like ****. Even the seatbelts need to change color, not to mention all the plastic on the doors and the carpeting in the back window, oh ya and the small bits of carpeting on the doors!!!

Some new material for the seats is also in order, I don't know about the derability of leather (I hear it cracks) and its hot in the summer but I really like the look, something similar maybe??

Also if it changes anything, I have the shifter on the stearing colomn not on the floor like in most (actually all) other intrepids I've scene. Its a first gen by the way.

If anyone has done any mods with this stuff or has any ideas I would really apreciate hearing about them.

I would also suggest an upholstry shop. They would have a much better selection of fabrics and colors. They will be able to do leather as well. Otherwise, I believe that the first generation Trep came with gray, beige, three-color scheme (beige, gray and black) and apparently this green color, which personally I've never seen before.

I don't know if anyone makes a dash cover for the Intrepid, but they do make trim kits in woodgrain or brushed aluminum. Exoticwooddash.com

Keep us posted on this project. By the way, what color are you painting it??

Mine is on the floor and it is a base model even. :D

BTW, you can pry get seats of a different color at a junk yard for realitively cheap. I found leather seats here for $75 a piece in good shape.

It's cool, but what do you think about the charcoal trim? I think I might actually go for it this summer.

the only hard part was to remove the old gate shifter thing. I had to break it off to get it out. Its melted in there. But over all it was pretty easy, you just can't really go back to the old style. This mod is permanent.

You've all got some good ideas but I don't think most of them are going to work for me. I live in Sussex New Brunswick (southeastern part of the province) I've never scene an auto interior shop around here, most people have probably never even heard of one.

I might be able to find an upolstery shop in the city. (an hour away) I had the same idea but the last local one went under 2 years ago.

As for junk yard seats I'll be looking into it but there aren't really any junk yards around(that I know of) just a few small scrape heaps mostly composed of ancient **** boxes. Also my front seats are differnet they are two captains seats that form together in the middle to make a third seat, then the armrests fold up to become the back and there is an extra lap belt hidden underneith. Kinda makes a bench (great for the drive in, and no floor shift so there is enough leg room for a fair sized person). Makes it unlikely I'd find replacement seats though.

As for the paint I haven't decided, I like Platinum, Black, and bright Red but they're factory colors and red is sort of an overdone stereotype for nice cars(no offence) I kind want something different maybe a metallic midnight blue, some kind of a custom job with accents might be cool too but the only paint job I can afford will likely be the discount one from Macco, but I wonder about their selection or quality. Anyone know anything about them. I love the paint on my uncle's 2000 special edition trasam. White with bright blue racing stripes, but I would do it the other way around. Only racing strips on a trep might look kinda out of place, I don't know, any comments.

Hey NextLevelIntrepidMXB2 I see you have some interior mods, how about some details, carben fiber sounds interesting (and expensive). And I see you have a maaco paint job, where did you have it done, hows the quality.

By the way I like that hood scoop of yours, some under the hood pics to see how it filters the air and gets it to the throttle boddies would be great.

I have been told by many people that Maco jobs are not good a all. They orange peel alot and they don't last very long at all before the paint starts to fade or peel. What can you expect for like $200....I guess you get what you pay for.

I'd like to know which Maaco you went to also. I don't know anyone who has been happy with their paint job from them until now. I'd like to see how good of a job they can actually do. If I don't upgrade to a new SXT, I might be in the market for a new paint job.
