--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Well I just spent some time on the phone with the guys at PAC-AUDIO.

Ive been trying to find a way to run the newer nav units in the trep. They currently sell a unit that can strip the VSS signal off a canbus network so you can run an aftermarket NAV unit. The aftermarket unit of course wouldnt be able to read the the canbus network.

So I explained to the guy that we need the exact opposite, we need our VSS signal converted to a Canbus signal for the Nav portion to work properly. There are a couple other signals but I wont get into that.

Guesse what? The Chrysler mygig/nav units are apparently such a hit that I was not the first person to call. They have already been getting request's for such a converion unit and not just for other chryslers either!

They didnt have an ETA only that the project has already gone forward.

Thier unit paired up with coastal-tech lockpick will make a sweeeeet-upgrade!

And yeah they use the same 22 pin connecter as 02+ lhs

In my opinion its kicks the RB1's arse hands down. Fully unlocked there are so many options for it. DVD output, rear cam input.....

But what about the fitment. It has square corners, not rounded corners like the RB1. You are talking about putting this in an LH not an LX correct??

You would have to customize the dash, yes. A few members here have done similar work with touch screens.

A buddy of mine has a rec in his new Wrangler and ever since I got to play with it Ive been determined!

making a new radio bezel shouldnt be an issue, its pretty easy to get one from any junk yard for basically free. You would have to worry about some sort of bracket in the back but im sure its doable. I would personally move it up to where the ATC is so it can be seen a lot easier than down below where the Rb1 is.

But then even with the bezel you have to think about the structure behind the bezel. I guess you could just cut all that out and fab a new metal piece to go in there but...

It all depends on how handy you are really. Its not going to just fit right in there so maybe its not for the light of heart. I know Ill be keeping the R/T untill hell freeze's over so Im not concerned about going back to stock.

So if you dont want to chop things up a little then you can go with the RB1 for the features that it has but if you ever get to play with a Mygig unit I can promise youll be hooked.

The only other option I have considered is the Car PC so that I can also run Diagnostic software as well but so far I havent run into a software program that I really like to give it the feel of an OEM setup like the Mygig.

I just let a Mygig slide on ebay for 180 buck........ Damn it I wasnt home.

Linux has the right idea, hes not afraid! You gotta pay to play and take that chance.
