I was told that the size of the tires will determine whether the speedometer's accuaracy would be affected.
i have a 1st gen trep with the 16" "starfish" looking wheels and i plan on switching to the chrome 17" rims from a 300M. What are the tire dimensions for the appropriate tire for me to use so the speedo will not be affected?

225/55-17 is the stock size. I'm running 245/45-17's on my Trep. My speedo reads a bit fast, (Speedo reads 60, actual speed is 58.7 clocked), which is no big deal to me. The MUCH improved handling FAR outweighs the bad speedo reading!! It will also depend on the brand of tire you go with. While shopping for my Falken's, I discovered that not all 245/45-17's are exactly the same diameter!
