Hey I'm just wondering.. whats the going costs to have an interior recovered? mainly a set of seats, I want new black or a darker color leather on my front and back seats, and maybe the small parts on the door panels done. How much would be a decent price to pay for quality work?

might be cheaper to find a wrecked intrepid at a salvage yard w/ a good interior and go from there...

gonna cost several scooby snacks for sure if you take it to an upholstery shop.

I would find a few reputable shops in your area and get some estimates. At least that will give you an idea of what to spend. Once you get the estimates, go to a salvage yard and see if you can find a low mileage well take care of wrecked trep and see what they will charge you for all teh seats and misc hardware that you want.

Yea the thing is Ive had three sets of seats, and the seats at the yard are only like $30 per full set for leather, power etc.. So I got a set from one, but the powerseats after I wired up the ground and power in my car.. smoke! When you try to use them they get real real hot and smoke. The wires are ok, the pink is going to the fused power line, and the black to the ground. Also the seats wont slide forward or back?? But they went forward and back fine when I tested them before I pulled them.. Anyhow I just want to cover some original cloth 97 seats in leather that are non power.

Unless someone knows the problem with the seats? They will move forward or back with some heavy pushing and then they slide for a bit and get stuck again then like the right side moves and the left gets stuck and it goes crooked?

Id be willing to pay like 300-500 depending on what was done.. has anyone had this done and know if it would be any more than that? Or does anyone know how much a new set from a dodge dealer would cost for a 93-97?

Katzkin makes stuff like that, but as discussed in a previous post its still in the 1000 range, and you pick the colours...

Katzkin and Leatherseats.com will sell a precut kit that you just need to attach yourself for like $800 and you have a real large color selection. Otherwise I've been quoted anywhere from $1250-2400 for custom upholstery.

Take the seats out of the car, flip them upside down and look at the motors and gears for anthing binding or bent, then put a power source to the red/black to be able to run the seat functions.Vacuum all of the guides first, then Oil all of the joints, control rods and guides. Then run it through all of the cycles. If it doesn't run smooth and even, the you have a problem that needs attention.
It is a simple check, and really should be done by anyone prior to installing seats from a yard. They get all kinds of crap in the guides and mechanisms.
After you do this, you'll find they will rpobably work fine, and you won't need to get others.

something else to think about, if you do not want to mess w/ the power accessories. Both your leather and original seats might have a comon point where all the hardware is bolted up, and you might be able to remove the track and motor assembly for the power seats and attach the manual assembly to the leather seats in its place.

Tossin' some more ideas at ya
