what exactly does the (bcm) do? ...what does it control?
BCM is the B.ody C.ontrol M.odule
basically controls everthing else that the PCM and TCM don't (powertrain control module, and trans control module)

Controls: (borrowed from the OTIS how-to)
A/C switch status I evaporator temperature status
automatic door locks (not available in 1993 BCM)
automatic headlamps (ultra light system)
automatic temperature control support
chimes
courtesy lamps
BCM diagnostic support
door ajar lamp
door lock inhibit
headlamp time delay
Ignition key lamp
illuminated entry with "fade to off"
instrument panel dimming
low washer fluid lamp
mechanical instrument cluster support
overhead travel information system (OTIS) support
power door locks (with/without remote keyless entry)
vehicle theft security system (VTSS) (not available on 1993 vehicles)

Has anyone ever done a 2G BCM + Otis install into 1G car? We just got a 2002 300M into the junkyard, was wondering if that can fit my 93 Concorde... hmm.. ?

The problem here, is that you would end up having to rewire the entire car
with 2G harnesses... Not to say it couldn't be done, but it would be one hell of a challenge.
The BCM gets all the info for the OTIS from the pcm and/or the tcm. (not entirely sure) For sure i know the bus system is different (twisted pair on 1g's, single wire on 2g's)
The BCM had significant changes in the 2G's... I'm not sure about the PCM, or the TCM. Not to mention that every 2G is OBD II, and your 93 is OBD I, so you'd have to figure out how to make the computer understand your 1g's sensors...

If you were going to make it all work, i'd go with an EVIC instead of the OTIS though :D
