I am working on getting a job transfer to Houston, but I had to interview for it in person, so i said what the hell and drove my 2001 2.7 Trep down to Texas this last week. Geez....took like 34 hours each way with stops. Just got back today....put 4040 miles on my car in a week. Gotta tell ya...I was a little apprehensive at first driving all that way (my car had 41k on it) but that damn 2.7 ran like a champ. Didn't have to add any oil to it or anything. Seemed to actually like the hotter Texas weather. Coming back to NY (state, not city) I drove the first part like 10 hours straight before I made my first stop. No problems at all. my little 2.7 pulled strong up the hills (had to....tractor-trailers were hauling ass up the hills behind me). Seats were good too...much better than my old New Yorker. Got about 28+ mpg If I used cruise and kept it under 65 mph. Right now I've got about half the bug population between here and Texas on my front end. All and all, a long ass drive. WHEW!

I flew down in April...but this time I wanted my son to see where we may be living (I'm a single parent...son 14 yrs old) and it was alot cheaper to drive (about 85 each way to drive compared to about $360 each way to fly) plus i wanted my car to drive around and see some stuff. As far as the interview...went good. Looks like I'll probably be making the move in a couple of months or so....

Congrats on the new job. Great to hear that your trep made the trip enjoyable. They were made for highway cruising, eh? A good trick I learned for getting off bugs - use panty hose material as a rag - it works much better for scrubbing the bugs off.
