I can't figure out this problem for the life of me and its really annoying.

Ok, here is my setup. I'm using ICS via a Win2k Pro machine. All the websites and pictures load on all internet sites like its supposed to. Ok on mine, the pictures on auction sites on ebay doesn't load, but the thumbnails on the listing page do. www.autotrader.com no longer comes up, neither does some of my other sites I enjoyed going to.

I am using WinXP pro. These problems just started too. I figured it was earthlink's problem, but when I went to the other computer and all the websites I wanted worked, that ruled that out. Is there some setting i'm missing? I even lowered my security on IE6 and it still f'ed up. So I put back the way I had. IE6 (final) is also installed on the Win2k Pro gateway machine.

Just remember, when using ICS, you can't have any of your machines set up as a DNS, WINS or DHCP server. Also, make sure that you are getting the proper IP Address from the gateway machine (192.168.x.x if a C Class)

But, if you are getting the webpage...you should already have everythnig set up ok. Maybe your NIC is really slow and not getting the pics up in a hurry like you are used to?

Try performing a traceroute to autotrader. See where it dies. Does it die? "tracert www.autotrader.com

Take a look at your route tables. "route print"

Confirm your TCP/IP configuration "ipconfig /all"

Dump all of your network configurations to a file and look for goofyness. "netsh dump > blah.txt"

Note: All commands enclosed in quotes should be entered at a command prompt without the quotes.

If you are stuck, output the commands to a text file (via "> blah.txt") and post them here. We'll see what we can do. Feel free to omit your public IP as we don't need it to troubleshoot.

Thats what it told me... Argh. It really puzzles me that it works fine on my gateway machine directly connected to the net. So weird. ICQ, AOL and some web pages work... SO weird. I even tried different access numbers... Still same problem. HELP!

Looking at this it doesn't appear to be anything with your setup as your machine is able to get through your gateway and out to the net. It also doesn't seem to be a problem with the number of hops as 10-14 is quite common.

One thing that may be causing the problem is that you are sharing a dialup connection  and one machine may be trying to access the net while the other is, thereby causing the one to time out. As you know, dialup connections aren't the most robust even with one machine using it.

Would you mind posting a traceroute from the machine that works?
