Evernham racing announced today that Elliot Sadler is taking over the #19 Dodge in place of Jeremy Mayfield. Mayfield is expected to drive for Toyota next year.

So far for Toyota:

Don't forget Brian Vickers in one of the Red-Bull Camrys.
Is Reutimann going to cup or staying in Trucks?

Thats good to hear... dont know what to think of nascar anymore. Since dodge has come back I've been a big fan, but next season they start that COT and also let toyota in... Seams like its just for the money anymore... It used to be an american sport of the american automakers battling it out. But now from what i can tell (and its just my oppinion), its a money driven profit scheme, with the auto makers falling farther and farther from having any part in the races. With that cot they're all the same car, just with different stickers.

I know that they arn't stock cars anymore anyway, but thats no reason to tear the rip more...

just my two cents...

I agree Toyota already has pace cars for the Cup races. I can see them for the trucks, being they race there. But until they get their cars in the Cup races. The should not have pace cars for the cup races. I think in in a few years After Toyota throws millions and millions of dollars at Nascar ( The creedy France Clan) and their teams and start winning every thing. The fans will go away. I already do not watch the Trucks any more. Plus i know many life long Nascar fans. That are planning on not going or watching the races any more. Many are going to start watching Drag racing instead. Plus with the cars bodies going to be all the same shape. it is going to be a Toyota IROC race for 500 miles (boring). And yes i would feel the same way if it was all DODGE, FORD or CHEVY IROC race.

you know i'm a member of the "anti toyotas"... I am happy to say the first nascar race i get to see is this fall at kansas speedway. Just in time before everything changes... I dont plan on keeping up with it after this year is over... maybe i'll get into drag racing. I'd like to think that nascar would get their heads on straight and do whats right, but i really do not see that happening...

hmmm there's always Cascar, could look into that especially since i have a cascar spoiler on my car... lol

I forgot about Vickers...duh !

I heard that Reutimann will have a full time ride for Toyota in Cup.

I think he'll be driving for Darrel Waltrip's team (he drives a truck for Waltrip in the Craftsman Series).

They've pretty much 'bought' the truck series. There isn't too much factory sponsorship for the big 3 anymore. I know Kevin Harvick says this will probably be the last year for his truck team (lack of sponsorship). Toyota has several past truck series champions driving for them and some former cup drivers as well.

The car of the future will make it easier for Toyota to get in and be competetive quicker. I hear from most Nascar fanatics that the France family is doing whatever it can to get them up front asap.

I don't think there will be a big drop off in attendance but we'll see. I know a bunch of people who don't follow the truck series anymore but for the past 2 years more and more teams are losing sponsorships and can't make a go of it so from a business standpoint that makes sense. We're seeing the same thing in the Busch series. It's becoming Cup Lite and most regular Busch teams just don't have the money to be competetive. I kind of wish they'd change the rules for Busch to not let cup drivers race (except rookies).

Opps...forgot to mention but I think the #19 will do better with Sadler. I like Mayfield but
I think Elliot will be a better fit and get better results.

Well as a Sadler fan (thus the 38 at the SN) I am both happy and sad about him getting the ride. I'm sad about it because of all the time and money i've spent rooting for the 38. I mean i guess it was pretty naive of me to think that he would have that ride forever considering that only 2 drivers will probably keep their rides forever (Junior and J. Gordon). However, I figured he would be in the car for at least 5 years.

Which leads me to the good part......RYR sucks so much now. Yates has gotten way behind the curve....I mean Roush uses his own engines and gets all 5 cars into the Chase last year meanwhile Yate's two cars continue to struggle week in and week out. The change of environment is good for Elliott, and now I won't look like a fool driving a Dodge, rooting for a Ford :D.

As far as Toyota coming into NASCAR.....it was only a matter of time. Go out for a drive. Count how many Camrys, Corollas, Prius's and 4Runners you see. Toyota is quickly becoming one of the most popular manu's here (if it isn't already) so them coming into NASCAR will probably bring in even more fans. NASCAR is all about the $$$$$$ and the possibility of new people coming in is just too tempting to resist. Once the COT is put in, NASCAR is gonna become nothing more than a glorified IROC race anyways. There won't be a way to tell the difference between the cars except for the nose, and what's under the hood.

did anyone notice that they were still playing UPS commercials starring Dale Jarrett and Sadler during the race. I saw the one where Sadler does a burnout at least twice.

Toyota is not the first non American company. DC is a foreign company also.

Toyota will just add to the sport and increase viewership.

Ford,G.M. and Chrysler just don't like the competition. Competition is good for any industry, it just raises the bar for everyone. Look at the new car and truck market. O.K. now I know why they are frightened of Toyota.
