got this building up in my overflow tank. It is sticking to the sides at water level and on the underside of the cap....... is is a big problem where I should not drive the car?? How about a flush?? I am a little worried...... I am guessing it came from the new engine? Or a reaction to old vs new antifreeze??.

I have the same stuff in my first gen... Found out it was from some stupid stop leak junk... A good flush fixed it with fresh coolant... But this was on my 3.3 1st gen.

Get Dan to flush it Doug. He's gonna flush mine when I get there too.

should I drive it before then??
I don't know what to say doug, you should just call him right away.
I do believe it may be a problem with the new and old coolant mixing though. Maybe it's flushing itself?

Engine is no good now, you'll have to get another one. You've cross contaminated the whole thing and it must be condemned

Yep, unfortunately, Cokey is right. Your 3.5 has caught 2.7's disease, its terminal.















Nothing to be overly concerned with Doug, most likely that is from the engine sitting with the cooling system open, and some debris or soap got in from power washing. A flush is in order and keep an eye on it, but not an immediate issue.

lol at Cokey...... thanks guys.............. putting Tide in it as we speak and taking it for a drive.

You can do that?
Laundry and dish detergent is an excellent solvent for cleaning oil and fuels from cooling systems. We used to use Dawn when I worked at the truck shop. Injector cups would go bad and leak diesel fuel into the coolant, and pretty much the same mess would occur as oil...Dawn, Calgon, worked like a charm.

Doug stopped by today and we flushed his radiator and got rid of the garp. The conclusion is that the 2.7 was leaking some oil into the coolant...but we will keep an eye on it just to be sure.
