I want to box my cone filter from sucking in hot engine heat, so I bought one of those silver sun blockers for the windshield to cut into a 5 wall "box" leaving the open end facing the fender hole.
*QUESTION* This stuff withstands the suns' heat without melting/catching on fire. Will it catch on fire if it is under the hood?
Think of it this way, plain ol' paper sits in the sun and doesn't catch fire either...........
A simple metal heat shield woud be as effectie as what you're planning. The problem is you need to completely seal the box away from the engine compartment to avoid injestion of ambient engine compartment air to see any benefit from a "cold air" set up..................
You will be lucky if that "shield" lasts one month
You need to make it out of a durable material, not coated paper
