Well I just had a whole thread typed up, then my Laptop died.... FML

Here we go again, as most of you know, I've been here off and on for a while now.... And my car has been through HELL and back about 4 times now, 2 with my dad borrowing it, 1 with his sister borrowing it, and most recently dad owning it (was supposed to be until I got done with college, but he got arrested and I got it back and now I'm fixing it for the 4th time)

Since dad got it, he did fix the one thing that went bad with me driving it, however the reason it went bad was not my fault (grandfather kept lying to me about when we'd get the half shaft and it snapped and caused the subframe to tear..... Now it has a new subframe and halfshaft)

Now she sits at my mom's house.... Needing a radiator (leaking from the top of it on the passenger side... Stop leak stuff didn't work) still needs a trans mount, and maybe new engine cradle bushings..... Not to mention new trunk lock, a paint job, slight body work, interior cleaned, and PAMPERING.

Trunk is bunged down ATM

So I got to my mom's house and decided to work on at least cleaning her out for until I get the radiator.... So I pulled her into the shade and got to work.

While cleaning her out, I found duct tape.... And I've been wondering how a black 1st gen would look with an offset stripe, kind of like the ACR viper.... So my bored/creative/crazy side took control and used the duct tape to put a stripe.... I think it looks decent, trying to imagine it with an actual paint job, and red, blue, or black for the stripe....

I actually still have it on there for until I measure the stripe.... Plus I'm lazy and that tape was retarded.... It had gotten so hot that the adhesive became melted and both side of the tape where sticky....

Next, I removed my LHS seats (surprisingly they didn't get destroyed) and my center console

Then I removed the bottom half of the dash

Next I took out the rear air duct

Then there's a random photo of all the stuff that had been removed

Next was the headliner.... I'm redoing it in black or dark gray.... If anyone has any info on how to do this, please PM me...

Trunk liner removed

Carpet removed.... Made cuts where each seatbelt was and then a long slit under the trans shift cable and stuff.... Debating on cleaning then dying and reusing, or just buying new.... Any thoughts?

Left over debris in the car from dad using it as a truck

True dual exhaust. No main cat (still has other 2) 2 glasspacks, exiting before rear wheels. Dad did this because my exhaust pipe was already broken

Inside from where backseat used to be

And everything strung out across mom's front yard before clean up and putting it all in her living room (no one's in there right now due to no A/C..... Walking from being in that house for a while to outside where it's 98 degrees with a heat index of 114 seriously feels like you walked into and air conditioned room from outside.... It's insane)

That's it for the pictures today.... I did put more water in and the driver's seat and drive it to the local car wash to vacuum out, but other than that, be expected more updates.... And please leave feed back

I say go with new carpets. Looking a little stained. Guess it wouldn't matter if you were dying it anyway.

Well another reason I'm considering buying new is there are 2 spots where feet have worn through the carpet.... But I need to find a place that will sell pre-cut OE style carpet for first gens, especially if they got black... I found one a while back but that want like $200-300 and I don't remember the site name....

Hmmm http://www.auto-interior.com/dodge28.htm#Intrepid $143.50 plus S/H or $198.50 plus S/H (second is with mass backing which is sound deadening/heat shielding.... I may have to go with this unless I find cheaper.

Also shipping is $23.82.... Not too bad.... Also I'm probably going to order 5 yards of 60 inch wide headliner material that 3/16 of an inch thick and it'll cost me $75.84 (that's with quicker shipping) from http://www.onlinefabricstore.net/specialty-stores/automotive-specialty-store/automotive-headlining/automotive-headlining-fabric/black-automotive-headlining-fabric-3-16-60-.htm

So my interior should be shaping up nicely soon.... I hope

Well I got more progress on removing the interior today.... I've got some more shots, and I believe the only thing I will not remove is the main part of the front dash unless a mod just strikes me on the head and causes me to LOL I do have one mod in the back of my head that may need a modded bezel, but I wanna check stuff out about it fist :D

Anyways, on the the pictures....
I got the Optima back from the shop today, and had to fix my amp power wire because they literally ripped the wire out of it's fuse holder. I'll get a picture of that soon too.... But here is my baby with the Optima behind her.

First thing I did today was remove the last two door panels I don't have the pictures of that though, I then removed the seat belts and the back dash

Nest I removed the remaining window trim from the inside of the car

I also removed all remaining inside trim this includes b pillars.... I don't have pictures of this though.... I do, however, have pictures of the seatbelts on the trunk

Oh and in this last picture you can see I took the dodge lettering off the back

Well that's it for the updates for today, again, any feedback is welcome, just please no flaming... Also, my plans for the seatbelts are to find dark clean replacement at the scrap yard that also function correctly, and I'm going to dye the back dash either dark gray or black. Please stay tuned.

Another update, I figured I'd post a photoshop picture of the paint job I'm thinking about getting, I'm just stuck on the color, and the colored sides from some ACR's have grown on me....

Red

Blue

Purple

Keep in mind if I do it, they would all be darker than that. And I think the blue would draw the least attention of the 3....

Also Wednesday I'm getting the radiator and trans mount. Wish me luck.

Purple, no one else has purple.
Gotta say, you have your work cut out for you.
I'm thinking about it. I do like purple (2nd favorite color.... Blue is my favorite)

And I know, she's been through HELL and back a few times... This time I thought she may not return, but she did, now I just got to fix her up. And now that she's not my daily driver anymore, I can actually fix her the right way.

Probably going to put in a premium BCM soon since I got it off a donor a while back and now that the dash is out I can do it LOL

Random question, and it's a shot in the dark, but do you know how to remove scratches from glass?

I think we will be seeing more and more of these complete gut and redos of intrepids in the coming years. Its getting harder to find them in good condition, the only real solution is to find a decent one and rebuild everything that its lacking. My 94 will be getting a similar interior redo in the future, just as soon as I get the suspension and maybe a few other things done too.

I'll be following your project with great interest, I hope you can get her saved for good this time! btw, I bought a slightly used black carpet for my car and I am Super happy with it! It completely changed the way my interior looks, you will not regret buying a new black carpet for yours! also, Dont paint yours blue! That's my color :p lol

I'm also really interested to see the turnaround. Right now it looks worse than first gens I've seen the the scrapyard, but that will make the transformation that much more impressive.

For colors: snakeskin green and black.

You got your hands full, but of us LH owner's doesn't!!?!?

Keep it up - can't wait to see what you do with it.

As for scratches in the glass - they can be buffed out - but be careful with how deep you have to buff - it can cause a lens effect like your glasses.

But I've always had plans of doing it in blue.... Hell a while back I did the overhead light bezel in navy blue, but went back to stock.... Plus I was highly considering the blue paint before I even saw your interior LOL And the black carpet is a definite thing I'm going to do as well as the headliner.

Also, there is (or was) a very nice 97 sport in the scrap yard and I was pulling parts from it for a long while. Currently mine has it's A/S stuff, BCM, calipers Hell even it's brake pads. I'm probably gonna test the window motors (somehow dad almost burnt them out they make weird noises now and never did before) And if they are fine I may just pull all 4 doors, the trunk, and bumpers off it since they are all in far better condition, and the interior door panels were perfect. And it has all the ES moldings on the outside.

I'm really not a huge fan of green.... Right now I'm stuck between red and blue, and I prefer blue inside (radio, lights, etc) so I may have to go with the blue (sorry Chewie)

I'd say go Vision with LHS seats. That's what I was going to do originally, but the Intrepid's interior has grown on me big time. So I'm keeping the LHS seats and console lid, but redoing current interior parts. Exterior mods I plan to do are ES bumpers/sides, 300M spoiler (Got the idea from Veeb0rg), redoing my true dual side exhaust, antennae delete, black headlights, tinted tails, tinted fogs, fiberglass hood with scoop, HID's (maybe), halos (maybe), rims, and paint.... Then I'm sure more will come to me LOL

Well Wednesday I get paid, and with that I'm getting new trans mount, and a radiator.... Wish me luck with the install also got a video I need to post up as soon as I get it from my phone to the PC it's where the radiator is leaking.... Just an FYI I sound like an idiot because I'm trying to think of what to say and I've got ADHD so my mind is everywhere LOL (obvious from my posts)

I dont mind another blue intrepid honestly, I was just pulling your leg. Its my favorite color and they only produced the LH in those super light blues. I have seen a couple in medium to dark blue before and I just think they look dead sexy so thats my plan. Besides, I'm planning a faux factory graphic scheme that should look very unique but easily mistaken for stock. If you havnt guessed I'm going in the 'what chrysler should have built' direction.

btw, you have dual side pipes? how odd... i have a single on the drivers side (mostly not by choice) lol

Thanks for the approval :p And I agree, blue, especailly on a 1st gen is /REALLY/ sexy. And that's kinda what I'm doing too.... I think they should've had a few more performance/sporty looking options for the Intrepid, but oh well...

And yes, if you look in my first post on this thread, the 3rd to last and 2nd to last show it. It's only clamps, glasspacks, and flex tubes right now, but I will be redoing it using the same glasspacks, maybe some flowmaster 40's or similar behind that (too loud as is, love the sound, but needa quiet it up a little), and real pipes that are bent, properly secured, welded, and possibly dual upward tips on both sides that hug the bottom of the car.

Well tomorrow my paycheck will be in my account (gotta love direct deposit LOL) let's hope it's at least $200 so I can buy the radiator $105.99, car ramps $32.99, and trans mount $49.99 from Advanced Auto.... It'll be the 11th before the radiator will be there but they have the trans mount in stock. And with tax at 5.5¢ to the dollar that puts the total right at $187.97 before tax and $199.36 after (unless they round up the .3 of a ¢ to 1 whole ¢ in that case it'll be $199.37) Sorry I know I'm just babbling LOL But I'm gonna be there right at 7:30 when they open, then I'm going out to Hazel Green (should get there around 8) then I have about 2 and 3/4 hours to get the trans mount installed them shower and head to work. Wish me luck.

Good luck, I know its too late but you have to start ordering from rockauto, they have a trans mount for $15, w/ shipping youre probably looking @ $25 and then they have 5% off coupons. That savings pays for the antifreeze and water youll need :)

Heh I probably should, but the reason I didn't is the trans mount and radiator both have a lifetime warranty so if it happens to break again, back to advanced I go LOL

I'll probably be getting other stuff from there though
