hey i have a 1993 INTREPID ES and was wondering if i have front dash speakers, because i cant hear anything where they should be, and if i do have them and they arent working what size are they thanks a million, also i have 2 eclipse subs running off of a alpine amp and i want to get more watts. so whats a good amp that has 200x2 or 350x1 or something so that each sub has about 200 watts powering it. thanks

I believe u do have the dash speakers, its easy to check tho, the front part of the dash just pops up, and for a good amp, I'd recomend a Rockford Fosgate 360a, thats what I run to my 2 12" He2's and the sound is incredible..... I don't believe in cheap pioneer sony JBL stuff, go with REAL car audio companies, Rockford, Alpine Clarion... there the best..

Your dash speakers are 3.5" speakers. I put Infinity's Reference series in (model 3052) and they sound awesome.

Also, if you get new speakers and don't get connection adapters for the OEM ones, the wires don't explicitly state which is positive and which is negative. (I think the colors were brown and green). I can't remember which one was which, but if you have access to a multimeter you can easily figure it out. Email me or PM me if you need any help.

what do you mean the front part of the dash just pops up?.how? by the front do uou mean by the windshield?

There's a darker colored plastic piece that starts the top of your dash from the window. That whole piece prys up with a screw driver or other small object. Be careful not to break too many clips, though

hey guys i got good news and possibly bad news.good news first right?

2. Bad news is that i dont think i have speakers in the front dash, i looked through the windshield and saw nothing but a flat disc of grey plastic below the dash,but is it possible that the disc protects the speaker from UV rays and stuff?-like is the speaker below the plastic and out of site- i really hope that i do have speakers and they are just busted so then i can get new ones, but if idont have speakers at all, would the wiring be there or should i jsut take that dash piece and look for myself, anyways thanks alot

you can't see the speakers through the top. There's a black filter element on the speakers, so it looks like nothign is there. You have to remove that panel to see them.

And the wiring should be there. I refuse to believe that the car didn't come with speakers up there, unless the previous owner ganked them.

There were a few speaker options in these cars. 1. A four speaker (2 back, 2 front). 2. A 6 speaker (2 back, 2 door, and 2 dash), and 3. a 7 speaker (2 back, 2 door, and 3 front). So it is possible if you have the base that there are not any there. However, I do not recall if the 4 speaker used door or dash up front.

Hey austin you should buy them from atf i still have my factory 3 front speakers they sound awsome and never had a problem with them.

Thats a good price on that amp austin, but never ever trust anything from ebay, I know that this will prolly bring alot of opinions out of people but I've bough 5 things from ebay and they all have been broken or suck and the person who is selling the item decides there not going to email me back or they tell me the item was sold AS IS, with no warranty, go buy your amp at a car audio place or go get it at best buy, hell at best buy ( they screw u on the prices) but you can get a 4 year warranty, and some times they will sell you open box amps ( there testers ) for cheaper. I guess if you wanna take the risk its up to you, but I highly recomend buying it from a place with an EXTENDED warranty.... GL with the speakers, as wutang said he has his still and they sound fine, he HAS to have the infinity ones, cause the ones I have are JUNK, I just recomend rockford cause its all I ever use and I've been soo happy with my fosgate stuff...

your running 2 Eclipse 12's? at 250 watts a peice? why don't you get a bigger amp and run them at full RMS power which is somewhere around 400-550 each i believe.

hey guys i took off the dash-it was so easy i thought i did it wrong, but none the less i took it off and found that i do have 2 speakers ( 1 on each side)but the bad thing is they do not work. i have not figured out whether ort not it is the speakers or the wiring i havent tested the speakers yet, but how could i check the wiring?

multimeter. if you don't have one, see if you can borrow one or hell, even buy one. My mind escapes me at the moment what settings to use (I've done, but this was a year ago and I don't normally play with testing electrical stuff). The instructions with it say how to test stuff too.

Anyway, if the meter reads power coming from the positive wire, the wires work, the speakers don't. If niether wires show any power (this is all done while the music is playing) then it's a wiring issue.

atf yeah i will try that but i am going to try to hook those speakers up to an indoor stereo and find out if they dont work, but if they do and it is a wiring problem then what should i do, because those wires hook up right along with the front door speakers into the same power cord on the back of the headunit right ()if that makes sence()

Oh yea Austin, check on your passenger side near the panel up a little bit, stfu dodge put there own amps into the intrepids (least mine does and a couple other peoples) it doesn't put out crap and if your reciever (head or cd player) is putting out too much power your speakers are going to crackle from time to time, I recomend just bypassing it and using 16g wire all the way straight back to your 6X9's.....if its wiring, just bring it to your local car audio place ( NOT BEST BUY!! ) and have them install new 3 1/2's in the front dash, but don't tell them the wiring is funny..... your polly going to get charged for the wires, but thats about it, sence you already paid for the labor of the install.... well GL with those speakers m8

i took some of my friends speakers and put them in to test the wire and they both worked so i just need to get new speakers, that makes me happy, but what size will fit in there, i will prolly go with infinity so whats a good model thats like an entry or something i dont want anything too expensive. thanks everybody for their input.

If you want Infinity, they have the Reference 3 1/2" or else the Kappa. The Reference sound pretty good by themselves. The Kappa you almost need an amp to get the full sound from them. Probably could get bass blockers for these as well.
