The rubber thing around the springs in the 96 intrepid has fallen off and causing the car to ride terrible. I heard you can make a replacement with heater hose but do i have to take the spring off and put the stuff on or what???

I would think that you would have to take the spring off... that sucks about the boot... mine are wearing too... id never heard about the rubber hose thing.

I have an idea, lift the car [not by the wheels] and put a spring compressor on the spring, but while its still on the strut, attached to the car, this will release the pressure between the spring and strut mount, then you should be able to jam that hose in ther! Try it, whats the worst that can happen?
