I believe it's just:
ORDER BY "the field you want ordered"
ORDER BY "the field you want ordered"
i want to order the results in this case the last names from the query in alpha order, order by lname ____?

Just looked it up:
By default, the ORDER BY phrase causes the database to sort in an ascending fashion: A to Z for string values, and 0 to infinity for numeric values.

Shoud just be:
ORDER BY lname
That will organize by last name in ascending order.
ORDER BY lname
