On my 95 Intrepid ES the dealer told me that my steering rack is loose and that is what is causing a popping sound when I turn my steering wheel a certain way (to the right). This can only be heard when the car is moving slowly (i.e. backing out of driveway) but whether it occurs when I am moving faster or not I do not know. The car has 125,000 miles on it, but I have also been told that it may just be the ball joints but I've never really investigated it further. I then had my tired rotated at NTB and they told me I should check the suspension...any insight?

I wonder if anyone else has had a steering rack problem, and I hope this isn't the problem because it costs 2000 bucks for the ES steering rack to be replaced and only 400 for the standard.
