I dont know if this thread will get any replys or not.

I'm looking to buy some strobe lights. I dont have the cash to go with the ones that cost hunderds of dollars. I was looking at Advance Auto and found some cool ones. Now I need your help to tell me which ones are good and which ones I should stay away from.
The thing I would like to do is have my left headlight blink the same time my right fog is blinking, then my right headlight blink the same time as my left fog light. (People tell me its hard to get to the fog lights, but I will have to check that part out.) Heres what I'm thinking.

Don't know how legal you want your car to be, but I know in New York state you can't even have any additional light on your car that isn't white. And strobes would also be imitating a police vehicle, so i wouldn't do it. But if you want go for it. Honestly I doubt brand matters for a light. I almost bought some strobes from walmart just to play with.

Iowa law, says that you can have lights on as long as your parked. I plan on becoming a 1st Responder, then I would be able to use them for calls and such. I just want to add somthing new and 25.00 or so isnt that bad and it would be somthing fun to play with, just like underglow.

I beg to differ on the brands dont matter statement.

lol, If your going to be a first responder those strobes lights are not effective at all for that purpose!!! But if you still want them i guess as a toy they would be fine, but I wouldn't count on getting to a scene in a hurry with those!!!! In fact everything maybe cleared up before you come strobing in with those...... just my 2cents

Well I really want them for a toy, and alot of the first responders around here just use their hazard lights. THIS IS IOWA, its not busy here, However their are some with strobe lights or dash lights but I still see many with just hazards and horns.

Well either one should be fine.... I had a the #3 strobes that i installed in my reverse lights, so they would come on when i backed up.... Wasn't that bright, but it looked ok... Then i got tired of them and took em out and installed them onto my nephews Chevy 1500 2 seater powerwheel..

I don't know how to post a link, but you could try "Gall's'" website. I order my stuff for work from them. Gotta give ya a heads' up though, they aren't cheap.

That reminds me because a friend of mine had those and they look about the same, they weren't very bright at all. You can see them ok at night if the other lights were off but barely during the day.

First responders wow thought that was a Dead breed guese not. In all honesty having strobes for that purpose would probally cause more problems then its worth. As a medic also people dont move for a 1 ton ambulance what makes you think they would move for you trep? anyways if you gonna get them get the good ones that why they are bright enough for people to see in the day.

I have a Whelen Headlight Flasher. It works better than the strobes, unless you get the good ones also from whelen.

Thats the link if you want to check them out.

Also if you buy those cheap strobes you are going to need a switch to alternate the strobes, otherwise they are all going to flash at the same time.

They are not all dead. I know that in HOMETOWN, IL. they have volunteer Firefighters, they use their own vehicles and have to buy their own flashing lights. To call them they use a loud horn mounted on city hall.
