i suppose this is where it all starts at.
i peeked into the bottom of my block to see the damage, looks bad, but should be viable for a stroker.

i'm going to be going slow on this one :money:
its 115 during the day and dips down to a low 100 at night.. another reason progress is going to be slow.

i started the tear down, checking out what i got to work with.
i found the bearing in the oil pan, i was expecting that though.
pics to start the party with :deejay:

looks like the thrust bearing.

bottom

not too beat.

my other "ride" in the background!!! MOPAR or NO CAR!!! haha living it.

im still re-reading th other 2 threads to decide if im grinding block or end-caps.

it never drops below 85 degrees and its been thunderstorming lately... so 100F with 90% humidity... not conductive for wrenching...IMHO.

i still love the desert.

anyways, the motor is in parts on my table.

heads off

i didnt have the special tool for the oil pump pully. so i just left it on the crank and pulled it whole. ill get it later.

the journals almost look good.....:glum:

hey please tell me i can machine this out.....:poopoo:

I had the block squared, which means decked and line honed to true everything up, the block was hone to .001 oversize to be better able to run nitrous. There are no off the shelf oversized piston so, I am using stock 4.0L pistons which are the exact same size as the 3.5L pistons just the rod length and wrist pin location is different. The mains are stock 3.5L size with the 4.0L crank mains reduced by almost 0.200 to fit the 3.5L mains.
(quoted from your 4.0 thread http://www.dodgeintrepid.net/showthread.php?t=180952&page=3 )
can i bore the journals and use 4.0 bearings?

i swear if it wernt for bad luck id have none.:glum::glum::glum:

thanks for the PM with good news dmondeac.

so unlike dmondeac and dodgebob my 4.0 crank will be stock.

now the journals on the block will be line bored.

next step get that crank here.
get the block, heads, rockers to the machine shop
for hot tanking, trueing, milling etc.

i was looking at the exhaust headers from the nitro. think they allow more aiflow then G1 headers?

Yep, looks like line boring is the best way to go for your block. Thats pretty nasty for someone to run it to the point they ground thru the main and into the block webbing. Yikes!
