The Tranny is a good deal, real considering it considering the amount of stick I give mine, keep it as a "just incase"..... I would
like to know how they got it.... if its stolen I dont want to know.

I was thinking about getting it, but my uncle owns a shop and has a friend right next to his shop who rebuilds transmissions. My uncle said that mopar rebuilds are sometimes not too reliable since he's heard many times that instead of tossing a cracked case, they would actually just weld it and reuse the case. Also, with my uncle's friend rebuilding the tranny, chances are he will do a good job. My uncle's also giving me a good deal.

ATF,
Is that really your Stratus that is in your signature? It is pretty sweat looking! Would you really drag race with one of these trannys? Aren't they kind of "slushy" and have questionable reliability? Although I do have 125,000 miles on mine.

Mopar4U- That unfortunately isn't my Stratus, however it's a pic of what mine will look like next year as I start tearing one down for the project. I was offered a NATCC car just like it for $5,000, but it's in PA, and I can't get a hold of it right now with school.

Mopar4U, I don't think the tranny is as unreliable as people think. To be sure, it's a very sensitive thing, meaning that you MUST use Chrysler transmission fluid (type 7176 atf3+).

The reputation these transmissions have is caused by the average American, taking their Intrepid, Stratus, etc. to any old oil change place, having them flush the tranny fluid, and then put fluid in that is probably not the right kind.

My old Intrepid ('95 3.3L) had 178K on it when I traded it in (for a whopping $1000) and the tranny was never rebuilt. I just always took it to a dealer for tranny fluid/filter changes; and they use the right stuff. It always shifted smoothly. :)
