Ok, not that I'm out to steal anyones car, but I was wondering where people hide a spare key on there intrepids. I have a magnetic one on my truck that I keep under the bed rail (because it is metal). But the treps are all plastic everywhere. I'm so afraid that I'm going to lock my keys in my car. I did it several times to my truck until I hide the spare key. So I was just wondering if anyone had a good idea of where to hide a key and that is a safe place.

thanks

I had a key cut to fit and keep it in my wallet. . It won't start the engine, (no skim code) but will open the doors and trunk.

I keep one in a magnetic box on one of the upper struts of my trailer hitch. Of course, since mine is a '96 with 178K miles and a lot of hail damage, I doubt whether it's a prime theft target.

Why do you need a hide-a-key? Don't you have a remote? I never use my key or even the switch on the door (armrest) to lock/unlock my doors. I always use my remote so I never have to worry about keeping a spare hiden anywhere. It's actually kinda difficult to lock your keys in these cars since they won't lock with the key in the ignition and the door open, unless you physically push the actual lock down.

I don't actually know of a good hiding place for a spare, other than your wallet, due to all the plastic on these things!

Got it here, took only 2 days: http://www.stylinconcepts.com/part.cfm?PartID=103&PartFamilyID=31&SubCategoryID=234&CategoryID=31

Just make a note that you'll have to file down both sides of the plastic that surrounds the key so it'll fit just perfect. It's not hard and takes minutes, the plastic makes the key a little too wide. I've had it in there for about 6 months without a prob. Also, before anyone asks, it does not make your Check Engine light illuminate.
