I swear, I have never seen such lousy, no common sense, lazy, stupid (you get the point by now) winter driving skills as I have in my area. We've gotten a crapload of snow on the east coast here of late and it really sucks trying to get anywhere (especially work) and you have these numb-nuts that make it harder:

#1 The lazy asses that just jump in thier car and get into traffic with just a little porthole to see out of. Don't clear the snow off thier back windows (I guess it's not important who's behind them) , thier headlights (who cares if anybody can see them), or thier brake lights (who cares if someone see's thier brake lights...until someone ass rams them that is)

#2 The jerkoffs that STILL don't know what those flashy lights mounted on the corners of thier cars called turn signals are actually for. Don't they realize that they have to give the people extra time to slow down behind them when it's snowing? What is so G**-damn hard about lifting one's hand a few inches to flick the lever?!!

#3 The dorkmeisters that have been living in the "snow belt" for years and know when the snow comes, but refuse to pay some money for a good set of tires. Then when the snow hits, they are caught in it, and are sliding into ditches (or someone else). But what the hell, better to buy jewelry or a leather jacket than to buy tires, right?

Okay, excuse my venting....just a stressful time for us poor slobs stuck in this crap.....and these idiots have to make it worse.:(

your venting is highly justified.

my area dosent get the snow...but they all drive the sameway in a rain shower. when ever it rains there are at least 6-7 accidents per hour in calloway. rollovers headons. hell i saw 5 wrecks within a 1mile stretch last month.

people are idiots.

Snow? What is snow? It was 73° here in Phoenix today. Although, it may go down to the mid 50's tonight! I had better break out the socks!

Whats really scary is the fact that there are more auto accidents with injuries when the weather is clear than when it is raining or snowing. But you are right, people do need to learn how to drive when the weather is shitty. Nothing pisses me off more than when people drive without their headlights on when its pouring or blizzard like, especially on an highway!!

I think it is too easy to get a license in this country...I know, I got mine while I was stationed in Georgia back in "84. I had like 5 hrs tops driving practice, drove around the block for the test, cost me $5. I did take defensive driving courses, and have more driving experience than some people older than me. My point is this, since the time I started driving, the number of motorists on the road have grown exponentially, there are literally millions more on the road now. With so many people on the road, I think some kind of school needs to be given now, as they do in Europe. I think alot of lives would be saved.

If people had to go through what people in Europe go through to get their license, it would be a different story. I was watching something on TV the other night about the Autobahn. I couldn't believe what people had to go through to get their license and how expensive it is. People in this country think driving is a right, but its a privilege.

The other thing I love about stupid people is how close they follow you when you're taking it easy because the roads are slick.

Nevermind that the speed limit applies for roads that are DRY.

Nevermind that slowing down is the best way to make it through tough driving conditions.

It's just plain stupid.

The other week we had a couple inches of snow. I was on my way to work on a country highway (it gets plowed and salted, but not as often as a freeway). The road was slushy and snow-covered. Usually in these conditions I slow down to 40mph or so... down to 30-35 around curves, etc. Apparently that's too slow for this one guy in a previous-generation Camry. He tailgated me (less than 10 feet separating my bumper from his front end) for a few miles until I reached the gas station I usually stop at for coffee.

It was really tempting to slam on the brakes, get into a skid, and force him to run into me.... but I knew better. He's lucky I didn't have to stop quickly to compensate for someone pulling out of an intersection when they shouldn't, etc.

Just getting to where you're going is MUCH more important than getting there on time in poor driving conditions.

i dont know about that.. now a days it costs $100 for your learners permit (G1) then u have to do something like 24hours of inclass training, then 24hours in car training..and THEN you can apply for your semi-full license (G2) 8months later.... then after you have 4years to apply for your FULL license (G)

Guy in a Buick passed me and 4 other cars all in one shot in a no passing zone when cars were visible coming the other way. This is on a road that only had two ruts of black where your tires go. The guy he was so crazy to get in front of was going the speed limit for the road which was 35mph.

Then when we get to the next light most of the traffic turns left he takes a left from the right lane to pass a some more cars. That was the last I saw of him fortunately.

BTW Sport Utility vehicles don't come with directionals ... Do They?

Just like with senior citizens when they're driving... don't pay any attention to what the blinker says... look at which direction the car is veering.

BTW in Singapore you need a doctor's note every year to get your license renewed after age 70... they should do that here.

UmmmStailfish...I was talking about The USA...My car is a Canadian model, but I'm American....maybe Canada is different....but it is easy to get a license here....I didn't even have a drivers permit I went right to a license at 19....and at that time in Georgia, you didn't even have to have your car inspected......
