Now this is a silly question, but where is the safest/easiest place on a trep to run 4gauge paper wire from the front battery to the trunk? Pictures, words of advice, I could even drive a little bit if someone is close to help me do this. I just don't want to harm my trep, from drilling or improper running of my wire. If it helps I have around 30' feet of the wire and it is ultra flex so it should make it easier.

cut a small slit into the boot where the shifter cable runs into the car on the drivers side firewall, then run your 4AWG wire through there. It can be a little PITA but that's the best way to run it.

I'm very new to my intrepid so I have yet to figure out the car top to bottom yet. To bad you don't have photos right :3
Look under the hood at where to add brake fluid (master cylinder), behind that is the brake booster (black colored part attached to master cylinder) which is attached to the firewall. Look to the left near the brake booster on your car's firewall and you'll see a black grommet with a "hard" cable running through it (your shifter cable). Cut a slit in that boot and run your wire through.

Or you can be a real pain in the butt, and run it through the kick panel on the passenger side. All depends on what you reallly wanna do. If you had the infinity system, it'll be a bigger pain, because you have to move the amp to get to it.

Will look and see if I can do it tomorrow but will give it a go.:D

I don't have the infinity system, but will also look at your method and see how it goes, don't really care if I bleed curse and sweat doing it. I miss my bass :3

X2 on the shifter cable boot! BEEBLEBROX82's pictures are spot on! That's where I ran my 4GA wire and it was the easiest spot on the car! I made a X cut in the boot and pushed a coat hanger from the inside into the engine bay. I then taped the end of the cable to the coat hanger and just pulled it through from the inside. Super easy and took me about 5 minutes from cutting the boot to pulling my full length of wire though.

Make sure to put wireloom over the wire in the engine bay and use a zip tie or two to take it up so it doesn't make any contact with anything hot and you'll be fine. :)

Thanks guys these pics will help do much. I'll get to it as soon as I can the old lady has the car soooo till then I'm just thinking of my bass :3. I'll post pics of what/how I do it once complete. You guys are always very helpful

Bass?

So I installed my 4 gauge through the boot grommet that you guys suggested and tucked it away under my carpet. I have a clean ground with the paint removed, new rcas, a new head unit, new amp and new subs. Okay here's the odd thing. I cannot turn the amp up more than a quarter of the way up or I get an odd disturbance playing thru the speakers like if I turn it up more it sounds even more like a dying speaker. So if I leave it basically turned down there's no point to have a speaker system in then. I don't know what to do, I've tried 3 different amps in the car different subwoofers, changed my power wire, my ground RCAs. But nothing has helped, I have even changed head units too. I'm at a total loss.

The only electrical thing I have in my car that I have had modified is my head lights. They are Spyder halo headlights. I don't know what else to try, if anyone has any advice knowledge of what to do. Please help me out, very much appreciated. (My car has no apparent electrical issues either no dash lights or codes)

Sounds like you have a ground loop. Common thing, no biggie is fixable. Is it a buzzing or a "whine" as you accelerate?

I get a slight buzzing in mine. Things you need to do to help eliminate it.

--- Run your power line on one side of the car & your RCA's on the other side (RCA's tend to pick up interference) & run the speaker lines for the fronts from your amp up the middle then to the doors.

--- Ground everything at the same point. Using a ground block helps with this. Everything will ground at the block then the block gets grounded.

--- Upgrade your big "3" Upgrade your Lines under the hood by either replacing or adding 4-0 gauge wire where the OEM wire runs : Battery to Neg post ----- Neg post to Transmission bolt ---- Chassis to Engine (braided steel line on either side of the engine) & Alternator positive to Battery Positive.

Other possibility could be low quality RCA's or not grounding, your speaker lines off the amp are low quality or grounding. There are a lot of resources on the net on how to isolate a ground loop. you might even need a loop isolator that plugs into the RCA's.

A simple test unplug your RCA's one at a time and see if the noise goes a way...

All excellent advice above. Where did you ground your amp and how'd you do it? I ended up moving my ground to the seat belt bolt on the drivers side rear seat before I got rid of any buzzing I had. Make sure it's as short as possible as well. Did you crimp or solder the ends on the wire? Is it a pre-cut cable? Same gauge as your power wire?

I drilled a hole just behind the lower bar of the back seat bar & they are crimped but going to solder them. I'm using 4g lines for power and main grounds. only have 2 going to ground point (cap & ground block) then my amps use 8g from the ground block. I also used Di-electric grease on all my connections. Buzzing I get is Very minimal. you can hardly hear it. I'm satisfied with it.

When wife comes back I'll snap some pics. currently having a problem with my Monoblock D amp heating so going to add some fans to help cool it down.

Alright ill try to answer all of the questions.

My rcas and remote are running om the passenger side and my power on the drivers side. My power and ground are both 4 gauge wire (one is audio pipe and the other is knu knocepts). My ground is only about 3 feet long and is located pretty close to the left rear wheel well. Umm the amp is an audiopipe 1500 1ohm stable, and I am attempting to use 2 kicker l7 2ohm. I will be running an amp to each once I figure out the issue until then I only have one speaker plugged in to try to figure out the issue.
The head unit is just last years kenwood model that has blue tooth, all of those goodies. So it's not my head unit it's new lol.

My power wire was a precut 50' when I ordered it. I have a about like 15'- 20 in my car, I realize I don't need all of the extra cord but it can't hurt to be in there till I am finished installing everything.

Like I mentioned before the only thing I have not changed in my car set up is the in line fuse and my ground those are the only too things I have left I could possibly change.

One other thought, could it be that I don't have enough power, ie big three and I also have a spare battery I run in the trunk too. But could I be under driving the woofer and it causes it to freak out when the amp is drawing too much/too little when I turn up the gains?

How's the ground attached to the body? I found that using a single self tapping screw wasn't sufficient in my car so I moved it to the seat belt bolt. That bolt is connected straight to the body and since a nut holds the belt to the car, I was able to tighten it down very tight. Much tighter than my previous method of using a self tapping screw.
