Ok... ive owned my car for a little over a month now. 730 total miles.

To put it bluntly.... my gas mileage blows. Ive been averaging 180-210 miles on about 13 gallons.

Now I know that my gas mileage is supposed to improve as I drive it more. Does anyone know how many miles I have to put on the car for this to happen? Right now im averaging about 15 miles / gallon on a car that advertises an 18/26 rating. I also hear so many people saying they easily get low 20s a gallon.

I do a good amount of city driving, and I do use the autostick alot.... running the car at higer RPMs than average.... I definitely drive it hard. Am I going to continue to see this kind of gas mileage? If so, then ill deal with it based on the performance I get.... and the reaction on other people's faces as I smoke them on the highway. :D :D :D

Thrasher: You have almost as many miles as I have. What kind of mileage are you getting? Im sure your probably doing more highway driving than I am.

I just want to make sure that something is not wrong here.

Thanks

My 2000 R/T has 8500 miles on it.
I live close to work, mostly city
driving. I have been getting about
15-16 mpg. My only mods so far are
the KN air filter and a Flowmaster
dual exhaust. I took a road trip last
August to Virginia, got about 25 mpg
at an average speed of 75 or so.
I don't think your city mpg is <<that>>
bad, I like to drive with a heavy foot
too. I just like the sound of the motor
with the Flowmaster exhaust.

wow cehasgr yer across the bridge from me! I'm in St. Pete! if u happen to see an R/T Motorsports around town, <especially south tampa, by the base> it's probably me! :D

as for the mileage.....i am in the same boat as you, i have not put on a whole lot of highway miles yet, more in city stuff <and running the air, u can watch the gas gauge drop> and i think i am averaging 15-18 mpg in the city..but not more than that. when i filled up to 3/4 of a tank i traveled about 160 miles and i thought that it was rather low as well. while i have not calculated it yet, I have noticed the increased fuel comsumption.

Having around 7500 miles on my 2000 R/T, I've been keeping a log since my first tank of gas at around 3100 miles. At this point, I'm getting about 21 mpg. That is about a 35/65 split between city / highway. On a recent trip to Roanoke,Va. from Charleston, WV., I averaged about 25.4 mpg. I do drive the car a lot using the auto-stick feature and around 80 mph. My wife does the exact opposite, drive at posted speed limit :( Hope this helps some.

I have a 99 base model. I drive it rather hard about half the time and I still average about 25mpg. Dunno what the bigger engines are suppose to get tho.

Ok....I'll jump on the resurrection wagon!

Currently, my 99 Trep had 123k miles on the original 2.7 drivetrain and I am averaging (as of this morning) 28.7 mpg according to my OTIS. I reset it about 3k miles ago with my last oil change, and have been doing a lot of running around town lately. My mileage has improved about 3-5 mpg with the warmer weather.
