Hey guys, Jackfish again. So, my struts are coming to end of life and i dont want to stuff OEM replacements in there. Id like to put in something aftermarket that will give me better ride quality WITHOUT sacrificing ride height. Roads up here are pretty bad and that poor trep rubs in some places already. What can you suggest i get for her?

I've seen a few discussions in which it was claimed that though, yes, the Special springs are different, the lower Special ride height is actually due to the spring seat on the Special strut being lower than on the non-Special struts. Some disagreed with it, but nobody on either side of the argument ever presented any evidence/proof one way or the other. It could be easily proven by careful, accurate measurements of that spring seat location relative to some prominent feature on Special and non-Special struts (most easily done during strut swap job involving both types).

I don't know the answer, and it isn't important to me - just sayin'. Have you ever made or seen the measurements that would prove it one way or the other?

SO! My best bet is to go to the joke of a dealership here and get them? I will if i have too. After reading that thread it seems like the best idea too.

Would 20 to 30% savings with shipping but without sales tax from an online discount dealer be a net savings? Consider that option.

Discount dealer is definitely the way to go as long as you do it right(I.E. don't get rapped at the border with brokerage fees)

go with a usps option, not ups. more expensive, but that IS the cost. ups charges "brokerage/customs/duty tax" upon arrival extra. experience so far has taught me this is more expensive overall.
pay me now AND pay me later should be ups's motto when shipping cross border.

UPS charges can be avoided by clearing the package yourself instead of having UPS's broker do it. I haven't done it myself yet by I'll be trying it on my next order.

also should note that air bags can leak and blow out! not saying your will but its possible, that wouldnt be fun. If you want to go lower I myself would probably go with a set of special springs and struts! its to bad no one makes ajustable coilovers for these cars. that would be A-W-E-S-O-M-E!!!!!!

Well, i called up my local dealer and the struts are 274$ a piece and the springs are another 110$ a piece. Can anyone link me to a good, reputable online discount dealer?
