Well the problems back now in the warm weather. The dam gas pedal stuck twice today on the way home from work. The secound time i was on the hwy 694 west got on to hwy 100 south which is a long bridge on a 50mph curve. The car took of i was in the left lane up ahead was a new Jeep. I but my foot under the gas pedal and lifted it up. No help i`m doing 75mph i hit the brakes no help doing 85mph look to make sure i dont have the cruise on no its off hit 95mph i turn the car off. and get into the right lane and go flying around the jeep. The guy must of thought i was nuts or some thing. I get off the road and pull over. It scared the **** out of me. i dam near hit the jeep and lost it in the corner not fun. I took the car back to the dealer they replaced all of the cruise control cables and stuff. My wife now refuse`s to drive the car and wants no part of it. She wants to sell it she does not feel safe to ride or have our son it it. If this last fix does not work i well sell it, it is a great car i love it. But it is not worth getting myself or my family or some body else hurt or killed.

Very true, SPOOK. I'd do the same thing.

I remember back when the Diesel Ram's had a misfunction where their throttles would hold wide open. In some cases the only way people had time to stop was the throw on the ebrake (mind you, most of these were Dually trucks) and throw the transmission into Park (thus anhilating that part of the drivetrain).

That has to be some scary ****. I agree with selling it if this problem persists. It is a sweet ride, but not worth keeping if it puts people in danger.

You know spook it happend to my intrepid like 3 times but that was long time ago. I would have to reach with my hand and pull the pedal.

But my mine is a 94 and its not a new car so i probably got stuck. I lubed it with WD-40 and it was gone.

But dont let it go bro. if its the 3d time you take it in then its a lemon and get a full refund or a brand new R/T be carefull

Spook- just guessing here so bear with me. Didn't you bore out the throttle body and remove the stop thus allowing the butterfly fully open? I'm wondering if maybe its not seeing that stop and just keeps the car at full throttle or that it maybe sticking on something. I'd also have the dealer check the accelerator cable and maybe replace that also.

GR8WHT and some other members also have the TB mod, and haven't had these problems?

What I'm wondering is if the butterfly might be catching on something as it swings back and forth while opening (just a guess but maybe go over it again with the dremel or shave the stop a little more from what I've seen of the pictures in the 300 post). I don't how to say it except maybe check to see the bore isn't "out of round".

I can't imagine the porting could have caused the problem. Shouldn't have gone that far in to the TB to port it out and besides your making the TB nothing but bigger, hence nothing should stick. Also, the butterfly is spring loaded - it should return to closed no matter what you did to the stop. You either have a bad sensor or your throttle cables are seizing up.

Hey, My car did the very exact same thing to me around 12,000 mile range, and then again around the 29,000 mile range... I thought it was the rubber floor mat I replaced the new floor mat with... But after hearing about this I'm I don't know...And in both cases the floor mt was bundled up near the floor mats, and I got it unstuck by putting my foot behind the pedal and pulling up on it..... What causes this to happen? is it a defective pedal or what is it? If it happenes again, I'd hate to trade it in. But it's not worth mine or anyone elses life.....

First it did it 4 times last winter before i Moded the TBI. And yes it did it again to day 5 or 6 times. Its gotten worse since i took it to the dealer. I unhooked the cruise control and it still does it. Now it stays at the same speed or it gains 25 to 35 mph and then stops all by itself. Or i turn the car off before i hit someone. I am just pissed off now. The wife is demanding i get rid of it. She afraid i am going to die in it. I like to use the lemon law but that will take a couple of months or more. And what am i going to drive for a car? I cant trust the dam car now, its accident waiting to happen. I went out ot night and looked a a few cars. The wife wants me to get a Stratus SE plus sedan. We saw two real nice ones V-6 Deep Sapphire Blue Pearl with real nice looking crome wheels. The wife likes them better than the Intrepid`s she is really short and has a hard time seeing out the back, and the Stratus there smaller she feels more comfortable to drive it. I like the Coupes and the R/T`s but they are worse yet for my wife to drive. the ass ends stick way up and all she see is sky or the rear seat. So i well keep you posted what going to happen next. I am going back to the dealer tomorrow to talk with some manager`s.

Spook, I would demand that the dealer replace the tb, cables, everything that controls the throttle and disconnect the cruise control to see if it still happens.

(Your wife is right, I would not touch the car in its current condition. If you get into an accident and the person you hit finds out about the sticking throtle, you are F-ed, HARD.)

Just my two cents
