Here's what I have :

1997 Concorde LX 3.5 112K Miles
Removed air silencer, cut off bottom of airbox for more air, Removed stock muffler replaced with pipe and Cherry bomb turbo in place of resinator. My car has been down for 3 months because a deer decided to jump into my windshield and injure me. In that time my best bud's lil brother got his first car and I challenged him to a run after I got running again.

He has :

2001 300M 3.5 215K Miles
Box stock other than the ratty amp and mismatched subs his brother installed.

How do you think this race will go ?? I'm not sure because of the sec. gen. all aluminum block and higher HP rating as well as the lower gear ratio of the transaxle and better trans itself. He has high mileage and a heavy system with four subs in two boxes which pretty much take up the entire trunk. I don't have my car laden down with junk and it has lower mileage. Hoping to do well against him if I have a jump and traction. Let me kno0w what ya'll think ??

With both cars being tuned reasonably well , I'd put my money on you. He has too much weight and I never found the standard Ms to be all that quick.

2nd gen 3.5HO > 1st gen 3.5 .

His miles are higher, and he has some more weight, but he also has the better performing car. At 215K, assuming his car has been taken care of mechanically, I'd put my money on him.

If his car's a POS at 215K like most abused LHs are, I'd put my money on you.

Whats the distance of the race 1/8, 1/4, mile, more?

Unless your car is in much better tune, maintenence then hes got you. You stand a better chance in a short race IMHO

Only 300M Specials got the transaxle gearing change.

To be honest, on modern cars I don't think mileage makes that big of a difference. 215k is a lot so I would guess it might add .010-.020 to his quarter time.

1st Gens are about 150 lbs. lighter than 2nd gens too. Might even be more than that since he has an M.

I still think he has you though. Maybe not by much, but still.

Good response and I couldn't agree more.

Basically I'd put my money on the higher horse and lighter 300 but in a short race you have a good chance at winning. The 300's aluminum block is lighter but the iron block's weight may help you off the line

The 1st gen 3.5 seem to have a bit more power right off idle and if you can hook it up. The short race will belong to you but a longer race or roll on, I'll say the 300. Good luck and keep it safe.

I miss my built 88 Lincoln Mark 7. I could talk all I want and back it up all day with the slow cars around here. Now that I decide to finally buy a four door car and slow it down a bit the racing bug sneaks up and bites me again. My Corde seems to be as quick as my lincoln was stock so it feels like I have something to build on. Maybe this race will wait until this spring maybe I can talk him and my friend into going down to union grove raceway here in southern wisconsin.

Honestly I don't believe 115K is high miles. I'd worry more about his car which has 225K since I posted this. A new issue with his car has popped up. He now has an exhuast leak !! Right at a flange is what I heard. I see him occasionally driving to school, waiting til I get some new treads on my car. My front tires are terrible so probably sometime after tuesday.
