202k miles. 2002 ES stock

75mph on the highway. Got a horrible knocking banging in the engine. You-tubed it and it sounds like a thrown rod. No engine light or code though . Never broken down before.

Had this car almost 10 years. Don't know what I'll do without an LH.

Advice has to be scrap, correct?

You could replace the engine, and with that many miles, you might as well put a transmission in there too. You'd probably be in the range of $2000 for parts if you do it yourself, much more if a shop does it....for a couple grand more you could probably buy a lower mileage car.

Let me know if you scrap it, I need to get a BCM from a car with about 200K miles on it. I would be interested in buying the BCM if you want to sell any parts off of it before you scrap it.

That's a shame, glad to hear it has been a good car for you.

I don't know what a BCM is. I'm 90% going to scrap it in case anyone out there wants to pick it up cheap.

Might be helpful to post the location of the car? Your info on the left doesn't provide a clue!

Car is runs. Bang, da,da, Bang, da,da Bang, da, da. As fast as you can read it. Not a ticking noise.
In the garage shut down for now. My mechanic is going to do a quick house call tomorrow. (He says)

Yard says they want the car complete but I want my newish tires and rims. Can't figure out how to get around this either.

The condition of the interior is that of one about 2-3 years old. Lot of care getting it to 202K.

And what are you wanting $$$$ for it?

I was in a similar boat with my Trep at 205K... after looking at the local market and the shape of the rest of my vehicle, I put another engine in it. Did not replace the transmission. The replacement engine had 73K on it; I did not have faith in my ability to install so I had a shop do it for $3100. If I had found a low mileage Trep for less I'd have possibly gotten one, but I realized that any trep I got would probably be over 100K, and if I didn't have evidence of a timing belt/water pump swap, I'd have to do that right away.

Basically, I ended up asking myself "If I found a Trep in this condition, with 205K miles but a 73K engine on sale for $3200, would I buy it compared to the other vehicles I am seeing available?" The answer was yes, so I went ahead with the swap, and I've been happy with it. Of course that commits me to this car for several more years, and yes the tranny is my biggest worry, but overall (six months later) I'm happy with the results.

Mechanic took a listen this morning: Wrist pin play in one of the pistons/cycinders.
If anyone near Worcester is interested, [email protected]. I'm driving it in to Sam's Pull-apart within a week.
They're offering $400. Make an offer. Black Interior is in fantastic shape.

Body Control Module. It is on the back of the fuse panel on the left side of the dash. Not too hard to take out. I will give you $40 for it, plus whatever shipping. I can tell you how to remove it if you are willing....

I don't know if the car will run without a BCM. The engine is a 3.5.

Anyone need a left headlight. 9/10 condition? Maybe 9.5. How about a newish spare rim with tire.
Rim is the one with the two dimple pattern.
