I recently replaced the timing belt on my 3.5, along with the tensioner, and water pump. It almost seems like now that the belt makes a sorta wierd noise, in unison with the engine speed, (higher rpm, faster the noise) Its not too noticable, but it really bugs the **** out of me. Could it be too much belt tension? It sounds like it is coming from the timing belt....

tension is pretty much the equal no matter what. The tensioner is hydraulic and pretty consistant so i wouldn't think that is the problem

make sure your sheetmetal timing cover is properly aligned. when my pump bearing got worn it let the w/p pulley rub on the inside of the cover. the cover mounting holes have just enough clearance that the cover can be shifted slightly. i ran my motor with the cover off and its quiet but when i put the cover on i sometimes get a little humming/rubbing sound. yea its annoying.
