i got 16x7 rims and i want to put a 235/60/16 on it. is this a good idea or should i just put the 225/60/16 on it?

You could also run a 245/50/16 if you were looking to get a little wider with a lower profile tire. I ran that size on my 1994 Intrepid and they fit great. Should do the same on the 2nd gens.

Will the 245/50/16 be that big of a difference in sidewall size? does anyone know what the widest tire can be put on without any rubbing issues?

Here's a better question. What's the biggest tire you can fit on the rims? Once you know that then you can figure how big of a tire you can go.

I ran the 245/50/16 because i needed tires on my Intrepid and just happened to have (4) in that size sitting on my IROC-Z project car. They fit great, never any rubbing. It's not really enough difference to worry about the speedo being thrown off, and with the abundant use of GPS these days, you'll know how fast you're going anyways.
